Someone had some photo edit fun here. Funny and scary.

I met Van Pelt a long time ago, and I don't remember him looking anything like this lol.

hahahahha....

.... now that is the type of sh*t that is true gold...

We are dealing with dark forces and powers of deception we have yet to grasp ....

... the "he gets us" entity/force we've come to know as Freddie has been and will be eons ago and millennia into the future ...

I really hope Van Pelt was hired as a OC in waiting but primarily as a QB Coach.

It would've made more sense to hire Brian Callahan from the Bengals and give him play-calling responsibilities.

His experience under Kubiak and familiarity with his father would've paid dividends for a ZBS scheme aligned offense.

Zac Taylor calls the plays for the Bengals, and it's possible the Bengals could've sought to block the move to a rival, but Taylor is not giving up play-calling anytime soon.

That’s because it is highly unlikely that we run a zone blocking scheme.  It is not the bread and butter if our oline coach.  It is not the bread and butter if our new OC.  It’s sucks but it’s the reality.  We are highly likely to run a more traditional Mike Holmgren WCO than a Shannihan style of offense.  The staff is very indicative of this.

Van Pelt's hire indeed points that direction.

When Callahan arrived in Washington, he supplemented Scott McVay's wide-zone and zone game with his expertise on tight-zone and power gap-scheme blocking. Though that's Callahan's philosophical bent, Callahan can easily teach the zone scheme as a primary element of the offense if that's indeed what Stefanski desires.

Van Pelt's likely could teach to that scheme if necessary based on his experience with Brian Callahan's interpretation of Gary Kubiak's scheme last year with the Bengals.

The issue on the staff is that unlike the Kubiak's and Shanahan's of the world, none of the coaches have primarily led offensive installations where ZBS is the main scheme. That includes Kevin Stefanski who assisted Kubiak with the offensive installation in Minnesota but deferred to Kubiak's expertise. That installation requires specific teaching elements for all offensive schemes.

Stefanksi may have decided to surround himself with the best coaches he could get with a diverse WCO background so that they can be multiple in their attack. That's all well and good, but if Stefanski decides to try to sway things toward all wide zone/ZBS there are some natural philosophical and teaching tensions that likely arise.
