Xmad
They should let him test FA to prove loyalty to the franchise, let him be tempted by the lowball offers so he comes crawling back to NE.

soflbillsfan
he has come out and said he doesnt care about his price tag he cares about upgrading the offense and bringing in weapons to throw to and protection. Wouldnt be surprised if he waited until the pats brought in players that would excite him before he is willing to sign. He could go to Tampa, or Chargers which have big time weapons for him and would make them an immediate contender for the division who will need a qb right now if they decide to move on from their current ones. This is like Peyton Manning situation minus the neck injury where the players, front office, and coaching staff is what enticed him to go to Denver and not the money as other teams had offered a bit more.

He is not going to crawl back to New England, New England is going to either commit to bringing him back by giving him weapons or he is going to go to a better situation. He has enough money, but the competitiveness to continue to play is what he cares about. If a team is going to expect him to continue to carry them offensively then he will move on, if they commit to him and bring him talent he will stay. The Raiders don't have the cash and they have a financial commitment to Derek Carr. They literally cannot afford Brady because of Davis's cash poorness. He won't be a Raider.

With 55 mil in cap space and another 16.5 mil to clear by cutting Carr. If they believe Brady will sell out games in Vegas by making this type of splash he is going to over spend on him but does Brady even want to go there? I think LA Chargers makes the most sense, as they are a team in desperate need of a qb who has the mental ability to not make mistakes, they have the weapons and a decent defense. The LA aspect of it may appeal to him and his wife where Rivers has never been that type of guy, he has been a country type family guy who doesnt like the lime light. Brady can be the face and get more fans in the seats there as he is a popular player for those people who are not diehard fans and want to see a star player be there. Plus Brady gets in on the Marketing side of it by being in LA

They were cash poor from the stadium efforts earlier in the process. They literally upgraded the stadium plan en route by 200 mil because of their improved financial position. Raiders commitment to Carr is also an older narrative. They can cut bait at this point with minimal issue due to his contract structure. .Not that I think it is all going to happen, nor do I agree it should. But what you are putting forth isn't the reasoning why it wouldn't happen.

They would still have $35 million after signing Brady. Many Raiders fans believe Carr is limiting the play of those around him so with a different QB you would need to upgrade less. If it does not happen finances will not be a factor.

Fidgit
I could totally see the Raiders offer him something like 10 year/350 million with 2 year/70 million guaranteed. Just so Brady can retire with the richest contract in NFL history by a wide margin.
Steins Gate
The Patriots FO knows that offering anything less than 30 per year would be an insult. Let's see how badly they want to keep him.
