He has no leverage (as I'm sure he's aware), and he's made his point. Not much else he can do at this point. Have a good season; one of those years like last year where he basically crushed advanced statistics for running backs, and maybe the team talks about a short term extension despite his age. He doesn't have a lot of mileage.

TecmoSuperJoe
Giants and Jets won't have fans in the stadium this year. I expect the same to follow suit for everyone else. So, weeks 2 and 3 on the road will be even more helpful for a fast start. Road games against New Orleans and Seattle on the road will be beneficial. 49ers had no homefield advantage in the first place, so it's whatever. The problem with pushing it back is that things could get worse, and it will affect 2021 scheduling. It's very hard on the players bodies to have an abbreviated off-season in the sense of recovery time. If this season starts in November or December it's going to be hard to start 2021 before the November or December as well. I am not worried about our guys having less practices than normal. We are a really great blocking and tackling team already. The playbook hasn't changed. These guys are dedicated. All of them are in great shape because there is nothing else to do lol I haven't checked on other teams yet, but we are returning 18 starters. That's an advantage to us now, but a delayed season would degrade that advantage I don't think a longer off-season helps us other than if deebo isn't ready for week 1. That's just my opinion though

That's just my opinion though The NFL could just cut the season in half then. It's been done before. Owners want that revenue though, so they'd probably be for pushing it back and essentially tell players to suck it up with a shorter offseason. 3 months pushback would cut your offseason from 9 months to about 6 months, which isn't terrible, but...yeah some players would need longer time to recover from bad injuries. I'm still not convinced that we will get a full season in and I wouldn't be surprised at all if the season starts late. I'm really not concerned with Deebo's injury right now.

Seriously doubt they would push back the season. That would mess up the entire off-season schedule. The Combine, draft, free agency, etc. I could see a shorten season before I could see them pushing it back, personally... I've maintained that I don't think football...college or pro, is going to happen this year. Now I could see them pushing back college to spring. I think that's doable for them. But its just too much of a risk for the powers that be to try and pull off a 16 game NFL schedule and postseason, sticking with a traditional schedule. Especially with some states seeing massive spikes in cases and some regions of the country being hotspots right now over others. And then what happens when you get a positive test or two on one team? Do you have to quarantine the whole 55-man roster, coaches, and assistants? And in that case, do you forfeit your game? Its just too weird right now. I understand the money at stake and the potential for lost revenue for the entire league. I just think its bigger than money at this point. Goddell and the owners will probably never see it that way but its the truth. Edited July 21, 2020 by 757-NINER

If we only decide to keep two and Beathard gets picked up on waivers, then this could be a mistake as we would have nobody familiar with the system for the PS (unless you want to bring back Jack Heneghan or Wilton Speight). Then again, PS QBs don't really run our system in practice anyway and if Garoppolo and Mullens go down, then we are screwed anyway. The new PS rules make this interesting as well, since two veterans can be stashed on the PS now, making Beathard eligible. Dead money cap hit of $93 this year and $186 next year. Josh Hokit - A second fullback was never going to make the roster. Hokit was a decent college football player (and a decent college wrestler), but I don't think he is NFL material. Even if SF is already trying to identify Juszczyk's eventual replacement (it is worth noting that he is a FA next offseason), I still don't think Hokit is the answer. Dead money cap hit of $9,166 this year and $3,334 next year. Chris Thompson - He is near the end of the WR depth chart and SF has had some time to assess his abilities. He is a speed demon, but I think that Poindexter and Finke are more interesting prospects to have in camp. Poindexter has size and red zone potential, while Finke could be a Trent Taylor-like slot option (and Taylor is a FA after this year). No dead money cap hit. Leonard Wester, Kofi Amichia, Ray Smith - We don't need 16 OL in camp. SF has had time to assess Amichia and Smith, so perhaps they feel that one or both are worth developing. Williams, Tomlinson, Richburg, Brunskill, and McGlinchey are locks. Garland (due to talent) and McKivitz (due to being a relatively high fifth rounder and since SF said they would have considered taking him in the fourth) seem like safe bets. Justin Skule showed that he belongs in the league in some role, even if it is as an 8th or 9th OL. Compton will fight, although he is not guaranteed a spot. Coleman also has potential, although he will turn 29 already in November. Brendel has some NFL experience and if Richburg isn't ready for the beginning of the season, then maybe Brendel sticks on the roster. Ross Reynolds seems like a safe bet to take one PS spot. SF will have two or possibly three PS OL total (especially if PS size is increased to 16 for COVID purposes, as some reporters have speculated), so they would need another one or two players. They could use another veteran PS spot on Coleman or Wester. Since they keep bringing Coleman back, I assume they must like him. I doubt they would want to use both veteran PS spots on OL, so a third would have to be a young guy, like Jones-Smith. Ray Smith was recently moved to OL from DL, so he might be an interesting guy to have around. Certainly valuable as a practice player, but position changes during an already whacky training camp seem extra challenging. No dead money cap hits for any of the three. Alex Barrett - Barrett and Kongbo seem like the two least valuable DL, but Kongbo seems to have more potential IMO. They also haven't had a chance to work with Kongbo yet. If he sucks it up and they want to bring Barrett back, he would likely be available as a FA. Jermaine Kelly, Chris Edwards - We can't have 18 DBs on the 80 man roster. My guess is that they release two of them. At CB, it is likely Kelly would be released before Acy (given $60,000 guaranteed) or Jamar Taylor, who was just signed to potentially take Reed's spot while he recovers. At safety, I predict that one of Edwards, Kindred, and Mayden gets cut. Mayden got $50,000 guaranteed and Kindred has played decently across three NFL seasons. No dead money cap hits for Kelly or Edwards. Joey Alfieri - Nine LBs seems excessive on an 80 man roster. This cut likely comes down to Flannigan-Fowles or Alfieri, as Griffith has around $37,000 guaranteed. Flannigan-Fowles is a converted safety who played decently in preseason last year and has some of the speed and movement abilities that the modern day LB requires. Alfieri is actually quite fast too and is certainly bigger. This one is really a toss up. No dead money cap hits for either.
Forge
I want to keep hokit for now. Makes sense as a practice squad guy to compete with helm. Plus, I really like the physical attributes
