2020 The Mock Draft #1

1. Cincinnati Bengals- Joe Burrow (QB/Clemson) - With the year that this dude just had and the need for the Benagls, this is an absolute slam dunk pick to bring Burrow back to Ohio. Joe Burrow just arguably had the greatest season in college football history and we do not believe for one second that he is a one hit wonder. His ability to make any throw/move through progressions/run is not teachable and will get this team back to relevancy sooner rather than later.

 

          2.Washington Redskins- Chase Young (DE/Ohio State) - The Redksins will be a completely different team with Ron Rivera at the helm and the defensive mind will be salivating at the chance to take this complete edge rusher at #2. Young is a game wrecker who from day one will make an immediate contribution from Day. With his ability to sack the quarterback and the need of offenses to put extra protection in, Young will make a similar impact that last year’s #2 pick Nick Bosa made for the 49ers.

 

3.Detroit Lions- Jerry Jeudy (WR/Alabama) - This is where the draft gets really interesting after Burrow/Young seem locks to go 1 and 2 at this point.  Jeudy is definitely a bold pick here with Golladay and Jones in the fold but both of those guys have contracts that end in 2020 and the chance that both are sign long term is unlikely. That’s why Jeudy who is an extremely polished route runner with size/speed to match can be a great grab for this organization even though they have defensive needs aplenty.  This is a luxury pick but Jeudy is worth it.

 

4. New York Giants- Isaiah Simmons (LB/S/Clemson) - The Giants will be going into 2020 with a 38 year old first year head coach in Jeff Judge and even though entrenched GM Dave Gettlemen is still in the fold who loves his hog mollies, he strays away from his bread and butter and grabs Simmons who will start on this defense as soon as he gets to East Rutherford. Simmons can be a force in both the run/pass game and just his elite level talent is needed on this team which is severely lacking at this point, missing with players such as Alec Ogletree and Lorenzo Carter make Simmons a huge get for this franchise.

 

5. Miami Dolphins- Tua Tagoviola- (QB/Alabama)- With the Dolphins being very vocal about bringing Ryan Fitzpatrick back for the 2020 season and up incoming coach Brian Flores in the fold, this just screams a perfect fit for both the organization and the player. We all know Tua comes with massive injury risk but his upside is massive as well, when healthy this guy obliterated defenses and has elite level intangibles that could bring the Dolphins to places that even Marino couldn’t bring them. I am not saying Tua will be Dan Marino but we do believe he has the talent IF healthy to bring a super bowl to Miami. Being to sit a year and learn from a grizzled veteran just makes this so juicy for Miami even with the risk.

 

6. Los Angeles Chargers- Justin Herbert- (QB/Oregon) - With Phillip Rivers making the well-publicized move back to Florida with his million children, it seems like the marriage between the Chargers and Rivers is finally coming to an end. The Chargers address the glaring vacancy at this time with Senior Bowl MVP Justin Herbert. There has been a lot of talk about Herbet not being the “rah rah” type but as two time Super Bowl MVP/Champion Eli Manning showed us you don’t have to be “rah rah” to do great things.  Herbert has accuracy issues at times but has excellent arm strength and the talent as a runner as well to be a big money player for LA for years.

 

7. Carolina Panthers- Jeff Okudah- (CB-Ohio State)- With a glaring need at cornerback for the Panthers and a string of quarterbacks taken before them, Matt Rhule and Co decide for arguably the top corner in this draft in Jeff Okudah.  Okudah is someone you can confidently leave on an island against the other team’s best receiver. Okudah has ball skills, shutdown corner traits that makes this a safe but valuable pick for the rebuilding Panthers.

 

8. Arizona Cardinals- Mekhi Becton (OT/Louisville) - Becton is an absolute load at 6/7 and 368 lbs. who just demolishes opposing defensive players. A riser among draft boards as of late, Becton will be valuable in protecting the Cardinals #1 asset Kyler Murray for years to come. There obviously conditioning concerns with a guy this size but you cannot teach his physical traits and with the right coaching staff, Becton can become an elite level tackle early in his career.

 

9. Jacksonville Jaguars- Derrick Brown (DT/Auburn) - Derrick brown was an absolute game wrecker from the interior this past year for the Tigers and will be a welcome addition to a defense that has gone downhill the past few years due to the loss of many key players. Brown may not end up with the sacks that last year’s rookie Josh Allen will tally up but Browns impact will be felt on opposing offenses and helps bring this defense back to relevancy.

 

10. Cleveland Browns- Jedrick Willis (OT/Alabama)- Jedrick Willis fills an absolutely glaring need for the Browns who were an absolute disarray this year and as they attempt to start over again, Willis is a safe and valuable pick to protect the franchise cornerstone Baker Mayfield. Willis is a guy  who started the past two years for Alabama as a right tackle but has the potential ability to move to left tackle in the future but having that stud at right tackle will be a massive get for the Brownies.

11. New York Jets-Aj Epenesa (DE/Iowa)- The Jets have many glaring holes, especially at wide receiver, but there are a limited number of elite pass rushers in this draft class. Epenesa immediately fills that void. This man is a beast who dominated the Big 10 with his unique skill set. He will find ways to get plenty of sacks for years to come.

12. Oakland Raiders-CeeDee Lamb (WR/Oklahoma)- The raiders’ best playmaker downfield  is their tight-end right now. Lamb fills an immediate gap for Gruden’s Raiders. Lamb is arguably the  most dynamic wide receiver in this class and one of the best at going up and getting the ball. With the volume he will receive in Oakland he is an instant contender for offensive rookie of the year.

13. Indianapolis Colts-Javon Kinlaw (DL/South Carolina)- The Colts do have some questions on offense, but you can’t pass up on a talent like Kinlaw. Kinlaw flashed in the senior bowl, though did have to come out with because of tendinitis in his knee. This guy is an animal and has shown that he can be a force on the interior, subsequently making it easier for the edge rushers to get to the QB.

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Andrew Thomas (OL/Georgia)-The Bucs look to improve this offensive line in hopes to give their QB, whomever that will be, some pass protection. They were one of the worst in the league in sacks given up. Thomas is one of the top tackles in the draft who is thick and powerful. He will immediately  address an issue for the Bucs.

15. Denver Broncos-Cj Henderson (CB/FLorida)- The Broncos don’t miss the opportunity to pass on an elite coverage corner. This is a very deep wide receiver class, which they can address with their next pick. Henderson is very physical and athletic. He has some work to do with his open field tackling but the Broncos need a lockdown corner.

16. Atlanta Falcons-Yetur Gross-Matos (Edge/Penn State)- Matos has the potential to be a Top 10 talent. The star defensive end has the size and athleticism to be effective at the next level. The Falcons could definitely use this kid’s skill set.

17. Dallas Cowboys-Kristian Fulton (CB/LSU)-Fulton is the third CB to come off the board in the first round. He is terrific in press man coverage. He gives an immediate boost to this Dallas secondary. He does not have great ball hawking skills but that is a trait he can develop over time. He did fail a drug test in 2017, but Dallas will look past that due to this kids undeniable talent. 

18. Miami Dolphins-D’Andre Swift (RB/Georgia)-This is a no brainer hear as the Dolphins get their workhorse running back they have been looking for years. Swift is an athletic/physical running back. He can break tackles just as easily as he can make them miss. Once he gets in the open field it will be hard to bring this kid down. Swift and Tua will form a great duo for the Dolphins for many years, though some question Swift’s durability.

19. Oakland Raiders-Patrick Queen (LB/LSU)- Queen is a savage who will immediately start for the Raiders. He has the speed to cover sideline to sideline and keep up with these pass catching running backs which allows him to play all three downs. Queen is a tackling machine and has great awareness during play. He has an unstoppable motor and will play hard every down. Opposing teams will have a hard time stopping this guy.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars-Xavier McKinney (S/Alabama)-McKinney is one of the more versatile players in this draft class. He can play man coverage, zone or line up in the box to stuff the run. He is a freakish athlete that will help get this Jaguars defense back to their elite level from a couple of years ago.

21. Philadelphia Eagles-Trevon Diggs (CB/Alabama)-Diggs helps fill a big whole for the Eagles as they were at the bottom of the barrel in Pass yards allowed per game. He has great length and speed to compete against any receiver. He has some issues with his tackling and aggressiveness, but Diggs will develop into a competitive corner for this Eagles defense that is in desperate need for some guys who can cover.

22. Buffalo Bills-K’Lavon Chaisson (EDGE/LSU) – Interesting spot for Buffalo here. I know everyone wants a tall, big WR here, but the WR class is absurdly deep. They can afford to wait, especially if someone like Chaisson falls into their laps. Long, athletic, explosive, plus run defender – there’s a lot to like here. The former Tiger is an excellent fit for McDermott’s defense.

23. New England Patriots-Henry Ruggs III (WR/Alabama) – I think Ruggs is crazy value at this point, watch for a blazing combine to begin the top 15 / top 10 hype for him. Ruggs absolutely explodes off the ball, he will be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. Reminds some of Tyreek Hill, his lightning quickness fits exactly what the Pats typically look for.

24. New Orleans Saints – Ross Blacklock (DT/TCU) – Very nice combination of need and value here. Sheldon Rankins suffered a brutal ankle injury, and they need some depth here.  Explosive and violent when he’s on his game, however there are cited durability / inconsistency concerns. Hopefully Rankins makes a full recovery, and combined with impressive backup Taylor Stallworth the Saints will boast a strong interior DL rotation.

25. Minnesota Vikings – Tristan Wirfs (OL/Iowa) – A big, powerful Offensive Lineman, this pick is an absolute homerun for the Vikings. Super aggressive, sometimes overextending, some have made the argument that Guard would be a better fit for him in the bigs. Flexibility will be key, as there are a fair amount of spots for grabs on what continues to be a struggling OL. Wirfs would be a great get here.

26. Miami Dolphins – Austin Jackson (OT/USC) – Jackson’s got an excellent blend of size, athleticism, and overall upside, and the Fins make a long-term investment in this extremely important position. Technique needs to improve, no question, and it might be a little nerve-wracking if the rookie would be forced into blindside duties right away as he’s only 20 years old and a bit raw. However, the upside is real, and the Fins grab their LT of the future here.

27. Seattle Seahawks – Jaylon Johnson (CB/Utah) – Johnson’s got a fantastic size/speed combo for the CB position, and fluid movements make him likely to sneak into the 1st round or be an excellent value in the 2nd round. Fits a need for Seattle, who are pretty devoid of CB talent in general, and Johnson can be a Day 1 starter for them.

28. Baltimore Ravens – Kenneth Murray (LB/Oklahoma) – Fantastic get for the Ravens here. Murray is a fast closing, explosive linebacker who is also very athletic in coverage. This fills a decent need for the Ravens, who arguably don’t have a true MIKE LB. There is an argument that Murray would be best served on the outside as well, but I think he can handle the middle just fine in the big leagues.

29. Tennessee Titans – Jordan Love (QB/Utah State) – I think Love ultimately sneaks into the first round for two main reasons 1) unbelievable size, arm strength and athletic ability that reminds some of Pat Mahomes and 2) the rookie wage scale giving 1st rounders only the opportunity to add a fifth year. QBs on their rookie deal are ideal for a team building a winning roster. Instead of potentially paying Tannehill significant money, they could have flexibility to let him walk and make Love their QB of the future.

30. Green Bay Packers – Laviska Shenualt (WR/Colorado) – Best overall athlete in the entire class? Shenault boasts a rocked-up muscular build and can run with the best of them. Size, speed, and hands, the one part of Shenualt’s game that might need work are his routes. Rodgers can work with him, and he can also learn from Davante Adams, one of the game’s best current receivers.

31. San Francisco 49ers – Grant Delpit (S/LSU) – I really don’t think Delpit falls this far. But this is an interesting scenario where he does. The slide ends here and the 49ers go best player available and make this easy. Delpit can also replace Jimmie Ward if he decides to leave early. Tall, fast free safety – the rich get richer. It would be something to see Delpit feast on this fantastic 49er D.

32. Kansas City Chiefs – A.J. Terrell (CB/Clemson) – Terrell is a tall / rangy corner that is a very good overall player. Tough national championship game, but let’s not let that spoil an excellent resume.  Terrell slips into the first round here as KC has a fair amount of free agents across their secondary and might turn to the draft for reinforcements.

If Yetur Gross-Matos wasn't part of the whole bullying thing, I could see him in Atlanta. But K'Lavon Chaisson is probably the better off field fit. Both are about hte same on field.

- Becton to Arizona doesnt really make sense scheme wise. They obviously need OL help, but Arizona runs more screens than any other team in the league. And use their OT quite a bit in that aspect, getting them out in space. That really isnt Becton's strong suit. 

- Epenesa is a 6'5" 285lb 4-3 DE. Doesnt really fit what the Jets are looking for at EDGE. They run a 3-4, so they would be looking for a more athletic player who can bend the edge. Epenesa is a physical player in the mold of Watt. 

- Love it for the Bucs. With both Kinlaw and Brown gone, OT has to be the biggest target and im a big fan of Thomas. Well done. 

Tristan Wirfs at #25 is shocking to me. As well as Austin Jackson over Josh Jones.

F for the Saints... DT is actually our deepest position, Stallworth is the at the bottom of the depth chart. Rankins 5th year option was picked up and he’ll be healthy moving forward. Malcolm Brown is solid and in 2nd year of a 4 year deal. Shy Tuttle was a stud as a undrafted free agent and then their is Stallworth. We also have a FA decision on David Onymatta this offseason. As you can see were deep here so it’s not a need.

The Lions drafting Jeudy at #3 despite the offense being a top 10 unit with a healthy Stafford makes zero sense. Arguments can be made for Okudah, Tua, D. Brown, Kinlaw, an OT well before they go with Jeudy there.

Like Scar said before the bullying thing and stuff came out this was probably he correct selection and i personally even like gross on the field more than Chassion.  But knowing the falcons how i do i am quite sure he moved down on the board for them quite a bit or off it all together with the bullying thing. Which leaves Chassion as the guy we probably target here with Kinlaw and Epenesa already gone.

Very solid draft for the Raiders. Lamb is an A+ selection and Queen seems like a pretty safe bet these days given our majjjjjjjor need at LB. Love it.

Im going with chaisson at pick 20 over McKinney because if we lose ngakoue we need a guy who can take Allen's snaps from this past year and i know allen is capable of actually improving our defense(ngakoue isnt a good run defender) but Ngakoue pkays like 75% of our snaps and allen played like 60% so a guy like chaisson would fill that void and give us 2 high potential edge guys
