No offense to the thread starter but this is as crazy as using tanny's Titans season as a benchmark. His y/a, qb rating and comp% were all world class. Landing in the top 3 of any is hard and all 3 is ridiculous. 

 

I understand you want a new metric for top 5 qbs and the bar has gone up over the years but this is a hard to accept standard.

 

Would be like asking all cars to do a 10second 1/4 and get 60mpg

It all depends. Trying to attach status to players based on metrics has and always will be a joke.

Jared Goff had what most considered to be a poor season.

But the Rams had 20 rushing TDs, which was tied for 4th in the NFL. In rushing yardage, we were 26th.

The Rams had 22 pass TDs, which was tied for 19th in the NFL. In passing yardage, we were 4th.

Just looking at the stats, it's obvious that the points the Rams scored were driven by their passing game, despite the even number of TDs.

Having watched all the games, there were a ton of rushing TDs inside the 5 yard line. Most of them came on 1st or 2nd down.

If we take some of those rush TDs and give them to Goff, his stat line transforms into something like 30 TDs and 16 INTs which looks much better.

 

Still not elite - but using him as an example for how QBs can be misjudged by their TD/INT ratio.

Ehh. None of then threw for more than 4100 yds and a couple of them didnt even hit 4000 yds or just barely. Yds still matter. Qbs throwing screens or jet sweeps or high peecentage tds passes isnt the whole story. 

Alot of yds, with alot of tds, with little ints, with high YPA and high passer rating..... with high agg% and ill listen. Otherwise you get a high five and an ehhh from me.
