What a fun Season! I think our defense actually is pretty good as long as offense doesn't put them in bad positions. I believe Gary and Savage will have big sophomore seasons and help take our defense to another level next year!

Cuts:

Jimmy Graham, Lane Taylor

Re-Signed Packers:

Mason Crosby

Tyler Ervin

Free Agency:

eaglesb_logo.gif Halapoulivaati Vaitai, OT, Eagles. Age: 27. star.gifstar.gif
Halapoulivaati Vaitai, commonly known as "Big V," has been one of the best backup tackles in the NFL. He has earned the right to compete for a starting job at right tackle somewhere.

ravensb_logo.gif Michael Pierce, NT, Ravens. Age: 27. star.gifstar.gifstar.gifhalfstar.gif
Michael Pierce is a massive run plugger. He's coming off a bit of a down year because he was dealing with an ankle injury. He should bounce back with a strong 2020 campaign.

cardinalsb_logo.gif Haason Reddick, LB, Cardinals. Age: 25. star.gifstar.gif
Haason Reddick has largely struggled since being chosen in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He was terrible this past season. However, he's still just 25, so there is a glimmer of hope for him.

NFL Draft

RD1:

Iowa_logo.gif A.J. Epenesa*, DE, Iowa
Height: 6-5. Weight: 277.
Projected 40 Time: 4.80.
Projected Round (2020): 1.

1/11/20: Epenesa had 49 tackles with 11.5 sacks, three passes batted and four forced fumbles in 2019. He demonstrated he is a worthy first-round pick this season. Epenesa is a solid base end for a 4-3 defense and could be a five-technique end in a 3-4.

Epenesa went on a tear in the final month of the regular season, and finished it off with an impressive multi-sack performance against USC left tackle Austin Jackson in the bowl game. Epenesa was phenomenal against Nebraska with massive performance. Epenesa had 14 tackles - nine solo - and two sacks against the Cornhuskers, helping the Hawkeyes to a three-point win. Taking on Illinois, Epenesa had five tackles with a forced fumble. Epenesa put together a huge game versus Minnesota, notching 2.5 sacks and four tackles. Against Wisconsin, Epenesa had a strip-sack to get Iowa some points. He had seven tackles and a sack against Penn State.

RD3:

Tulsa_logo.gif Reggie Robinson, CB, Tulsa
Height: 6-1. Weight: 202. Arm: 32.38. Hand: 8.25.
Projected 40 Time: 4.49.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.

: Robinson has the potential to be a riser in the process because he is a tall cornerback with speed and athleticism. He totaled four interceptions, 13 passes broken up, and 38 tackles during his senior year. Over previous three seasons, he totaled 21 passes broken up. Robinson has a good skill set and could develop into a starting outside cornerback. He's a sleeper pick who could be a steal.

Memphis_logo.gif Antonio Gibson, RB, Memphis
Height: 6-0. Weight: 223. Arm: 31. Hand: 8.25.
Projected 40 Time: 4.58.
Projected Round (2020): 4-6.

2/1/20: Gibson took advantage of his limited opportunities in 2019 to be very productive. Over only 33 carries, he averaged 11.2 yards per attempt for 369 yards and four scores. He caught 38 passes for 735 yards with eight scores.

6th

Miami_logo.gif Jeff Thomas*, WR, Miami
Height: 5-10. Weight: 170.
Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
Projected Round (2020): 4-6.

2/1/20: While Miami is not the juggernaut for NFL talent it used to be, the program still has some players who impressed scouts in 2019. Thomas is one of those prospects even though he did not produce much in games over his final season for Miami. Team sources like what they saw out of Thomas in practice and think he is similar to former Hurricanes speedster Philip Dorsett. In 2019, Thomas had 31 catches for 379 yards and three touchdowns, but in 2018, he had 35 receptions for 563 yards and three scores. Thomas could be a third-day pick who works his way onto a NFL roster as a speed receiver.

Temple_logo.gif Chapelle Russell, ILB, Temple
Height: 6-1. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.70.
Projected Round (2020): 6-FA.

1/11/20: Russell totaled 71 tackles with three passes broken up in 2019.

6/29/19: Russell will enter the NFL with a medical red flag after two ACL injuries, but he played well enough in 2018 to earn a spot on NFL teams' preseason watch list. Russell had 70 tackles with three passes defended last season and showed he was a clutch player to be around the ball with five fumble recoveries. In 2017, he had 70 tackles.

I like everything about this except for trading for cancer.  Usually you don’t want cancer.

A 2nd, 4th, and 6th  for him with a winning team though. I would like to think a winning climate would help.

Yeah, that is too much to give up for him IMO. Look at what he did after the National Championship game giving out money to LSU players knowing it's an NCAA violation. The guy got his big contract. Now he's more concerned with Odell Beckham the brand than the football player.

That is an easy pass for me, but I get the idea of bringing in a top flight WR. I've been on the Amari Cooper train for a while.
