Ravens extend S Chuck Clark (3 years, $19M, $10M GTD)

Good move. He was a massive upgrade over the injured Tony jefferson(who will be cut for sure). Smart player and good in coverage, which is apparently important for a safety.

Unsurprising that Decosta continues his trend of building, investing in and prioritizing the secondary of the defense first and foremost. They now have have one of the best secondary groups in the league locked in for the next 3+ years.

Now we have to figure out how to build a front-7 with our remaining resources.

Chuck Clark was a pretty unknown commodity going into last season. In the first few weeks, when our defense was ranked near dead last in the league he was a backup. Then Tony Jefferson went down for the year and Chuck Clark assumed the SS role and took the green dot responsibilities. At that point, due to Clark being inserted into the lineup as well as us solidifying our ILB group, the defense took off and finished top 5 in the league.

Clark is a solid young safety and this move all but guarantees Tony Jefferson will be cut.

In Chuck Clark I see a pro bowl caliber talent. He performed very well in his only action in 2018 against the Chiefs where he picked off Mahomes.

Then when given the opportunity all he’s done is make plays in a multitude of ways, he’s the smartest player on the defense, he’s got length, and plus athleticism. Also at safety there’s probably only enough safeties I can name on one hand that I think are legit superior nickel/dime LBs than Clark.

This extension after it’s all said and done, outside of injury problems that we haven’t yet seen, should age to be an absolute steal. Such an intelligent move to lock him up now vs waiting until he hits UFA and gets overpaid.

We'll give you all three of our fourth round picks.

I mean how exciting is that...picking 3 times in one round.

Good, it's settled

VERY intriguing offer, but going to have to pass on that one!

Now, add your 2nd and 3rd rounder and then we're talking!

Our run at trying to sign FA safeties since Ed Reed retired has been.....not ideal. Even Earl Thomas hasn't been a game changer for us, he's just been a "solid" FS.

We've ran into the same situation attempting to replace Troy. Before the Minkah trade, we've been awful at Safety.
