ovfd55 Posted February 11, 2020 Share Posted February 11, 2020 Think its smart on his end to ask for this,not the greatest FA CB class and his market should be at a all time high for him with his PFF rankings with teams going more analytical.Also will be 28 at start of season so as a CB prob his last chance at a big contract. I think I'm on the trade him wagon at moment just don't think he's been healthy enough or as good as his PFF #s suggest,to give him top 5 CB like he might want right now. Dunbar has one year left on his contract, with a base salary of $3.25 million -- none of which is guaranteed. He also has a roster bonus worth up to $250,000. Dunbar had talked with the previous administration about an extension, but a source said there had been no contact with the Redskins since Ron Rivera was hired after the season. If the Redskins don't honor his request, and no extension is signed before training camp, the source said that Dunbar would play out his final season and sign elsewhere. Dunbar won't participate in the spring OTA workouts, the source confirmed. His desire to skip those voluntary sessions as first reported by NBC Sports Washington. Dunbar's contract plus Reuben Foster's injury played into that decision. Foster tore multiple ligaments and suffered nerve damage on the first day of OTA work last spring. There's still uncertainty about when Foster will return. Dunbar spoke with a member of the Redskins' administration Monday evening. I think it’s a valid concern to commit long term and if he thinks he’s worth more with his history that’s on him. I think this is a guy who was happy with the old guard honestly. naptownskinsfan Posted February 11, 2020 Share Posted February 11, 2020 LOL. So what has changed? Bruce Allen and Daniel Snyder were the deciders. Allen as de-facto GM and Snyder as the owner. Allen is gone. Also gone is Eric Schaeffer, who was the chief legal officer and cap specialist, who wouldn't necessarily have much contact, if any, with players. Allen had the reputation of being very anti-player if you will. In comes Ron Rivera as the de-facto GM, as well as head coach. If he and his group of people can not make a consensus decision, Snyder is the one who steps in. There were some promotions in the personnel department, but no one has left. According to Dunbar, none of them have reached out. On the coaching side, that also means that Rivera (who has full authority regarding personnel) hasn't reached out about his contract, despite being on the job since before the new year, nor has Jack Del Rio, who is probably about as far down the food chain as you can go for contacting a player about his contract status. Not contacting a guy who could be considered a #1 corner about his contract situation by a new coaching staff who have been on the job for a month and a half already is absolutely ridiculous. No wonder Dunbar went the "trade me or release me" route. It's once again proving that the team doesn't care about the players. Allen was a symptom of the disease. Let him play out this year and let him go next offseason in hopes of a compensatory pick. The guy is always hurt and his PFF grade this year is highly over valued. He’s legitimately the only good corner we have.
