what do all these films have in common? they depict a very broken yet comprehensive view of the failure of American culture/society , when  by all intents and purposes we were supposedly at the best point we'd ever been    https://news.gallup.com/poll/1669/general-mood-country.aspx   . now that I think of it, would be interesting to re-examine a list of what came out in 87....

 

Call them overrated all you want, the 1999 list blows the 2006 list out of the water in my book.

 

This is the 2006 list, good but the high end are just simply not the same as 1999.  The overall quality is just not the same top to bottom I feel.

Death Wish 4 The Crack Down was pretty funny not sure I would note it though, oh and Cannibal Hookers on title alone, but yeah nothing great overall.  Planes, Trains and Automobiles is arguably one of the best comedies ever but that is really the only thing standout on the list.  Hellraiser and Predator were pretty sweet also.

Crazy year for Western movies, and those top three are about as good as they get in terms of a Western Country style film.
