Detroit Lions pass rusher Armonty Bryant was suspended four games for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, the team announced Tuesday.

Bryant, who was claimed off waivers by the Lions in October after being released by the Cleveland Browns last season, re-signed with Detroit in March. He recorded five tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble with the Lions before suffering a season-ending knee injury in December.

Haven't seen the Lions depth chart lately, but if he wasn't slated to start he was supposed to be the #3 edge rusher, wasn't he?

Ansah and Hyder are the starters. Cornelius Washington is supposed to be the #3 guy replacing Devin Taylor. Bryant was the favorite to be the 4th DE competing with Anthony Zettel, Pat O'Connor, maybe Jeremiah Ledbetter (he might play DT), and Brandon Copeland (more of a ST guy and also plays LB). I'm surprised the suspension is only for four games though, he served a suspension last year as well. He was solid for the Lions, came in to give Ansah a breather and managed to get a few sacks off of stunts. I hope this means Pat O'Connor makes the team to start the season though, he's a freakin mad man coming off the edge.
