He deserves to get paid - no doubt about that.

While Dean Pees got the last laugh this year, there was a huge difference from the Dean Pees defense to the Wink Martindale defense - especially in its approach to attack the offense. The aggressive nature of Wink's defense was what concerned many Ravens fans, I was among them based on what he did as a DC in Denver.

What has changed with the Ravens is, that we have turned our defensive philosophy around, so we are now build back to front instead of the other way around. We had Jimmy Smith and Brandon Carr and added Tavon Young and Marlon Humphrey in the draft and this year we got Marcus Peters and Earl Thomas as well instead of diving into the DL/EDGE free agency pool. The coverage in the secondary allowed Wink to play his aggressive style of defense and it has worked so far.

One other thing was his ability along with the front office to recognize what had to be done after 4 games of the season, where our defense was bad. Those adjustments we have seen from Wink, we never saw from Dean Pees.
