Other than that, I don't see why Detroit would be a bad landing spot for him. Matt Stafford was the first overall pick in the draft and he has stayed and played his entire career there. They must be treating him fairly well. I can't blame them for wanting him to quarterback the Cowboys because that's a premium place to be a quarterback, no matter what you think of them or their owner. As far as Miami is concerned, have they really been any better than Detroit during Tua's entire life? Not much if they have. They do have great weather though, so there is that. It is my opinion that a college kid has no business calling any shots as to where he will be playing to start his NFL career. It is a privilege to be drafted (even if you are the #1 pick). To maintain parity in the league, they give the worst team the highest pick, and so on down the line. If you are the first pick in the draft, you will also be making the most money to start your career. If you don't like the team that drafts you, tough. Sometimes you have to take the bad with the good. If Cincinnati picks him and he doesn't like it there, he has every right to refuse to sign a second contract with them and move on in 4-5 years. The same goes for Tua in Detroit. In the meantime, get out there and do your best to make the team that puts their trust in you the best they can possibly be. Man up. I agree with most of what you said... I sure does seem to be more of a market/region preference when it comes to Tua and his family. Almost like, hey were from Hawaii so Miami and Los Angles fits us better. However he’s in Alabama? I’m not buying it, personally I feel Tua’s family as well as Tua himself is trying to manipulate this thing to get him to the market they choose. As far as my opinion on that... I’m really torn there. On one hand I agree that playing in the NFL is a privilege not a right and these kids should be excited for any franchise who believes in them and wants to pay them millions to play a game and should go to said franchise with open minds. Then on the other hand it is a business, and in any business if you have leverage to better your situation you use it. It’s with out a doubt a slippery slope but I find it hard to hold it against the players at the same time. Then again I remember that they are kids, I think back to players that were drafted to regions they did not want to be in like Jim Kelly, Reggie Bush, etc and it ended up being the best thing for those guys. You just never know how these things will pan out because it worked out in the end for John Elway and Eli Manning as well.

Bengals gonna draft Herbert. There i said it.

Were the Cards going to take Murray after just selecting Rosen in the first round the previous year? Next year it will be ESPN and media purposely overhyping Justin Fields (he’s a great prospect but Lawrence is better and everyone knows it) so they will have the suspense of which QB will go number one. On 2/23/2020 at 8:12 AM, BleedTheClock said: lol even the casual sports fans should be able to see through that nonsense, if it occurs. Fields might be QB #2 next year, but it won't be because he's anywhere close to Lawrence. I don't think he's some elite QB prospect by any means. Even if Lawrence suffers a major injury? That would be similar to this draft were most had Tua as #1 before the draft. I could see a situation like that dropping Lawrence but not if both are healthy. thrILL!
Unsubstantiated report for the first link. “There’s a report” and “unnamed sources” sure create avenues for gossip when you want it. The Cowboys thing was Tua being playful about wanting to play for Dallas bcuz that’s his childhood team. Reading the quote isn’t the same as seeing the clip where he was repeatedly asked. I don't think Fields is a special QB prospect. Wouldn't surprise me if someone vaults up draft boards and passes him as QB #2.

It's more likely that the Bengals draft Burrow #1 and then trade down with MIA at #5 to get Herbert. They would still get a boat load of picks and have their QBOTF. Back to Tua. I don't think he will be an elite QB in the NFL. Just a good one (top half of starting QBs). Should be good enough to win a SB in the right situation.
