if you're really crimped and stuck on a $1k budget , wait and save up another $200 or so

And find the best receiver on sale that can do 7.2 (or higher) with at least 110wpc.  In that price range you'd be looking at a last-years-model refurb  onkyo or yamaha.  Not great but not terrible. As long as it comes with full warranty who cares. That will get you up to about 95dB in a 1500 cubic foot room with a 8 foot viewing/listening distance

How V for Vendetta got any votes is beyond me. Even Moore called it a shameless propaganda film that was too chicken s**t to come right out and say what they meant despite making it obvious bashing the British government.

I wouldn’t  pay attention to what Moore says. Prefer the movie to the comic.

it wont be the best system ever heard, but it would crush that soundbar and fake subwoofer.

I guess you'd need to also budget in for about $25 of heavy gauge speaker wire.

The only real drawback is those subs only hit down to 23 hz.  So you won't get the lowest of low LFE. But if you crossover at 6o or 80 hz with those mains/center it will sound good and balanced.   You wouldn't hit under 23 hz with the one you linked either

I’m not an audiophile by any means.  I won’t even notice.

Actually hold up, can’t do cords.  Already drywalled the ceiling and I’m not about to have them visible.
