Now take a look at the split between the super star players and the rest. If Dak gets his 34 million a year then the top 6 Cowboys will make as much as the other 45 guys combined. It will offer much more in incentive pay so the 5th round pick who is a star can make an extra 500k as a rookie because his play determined his pay. Clowns like Russel Okung and Aaron Rodgers want those players mad at the owners instead of the stars and their greedy agents. If the players do reject this deal, they should push for individual caps on salaries so everyone gets what they deserve for risking their health which all the rich guys seem to care a lot about. 5% of the cap sounds about right to me. Make them eligible for the incentive pay as well so the MVP can still make 16 million instead of 10. I don't watch the NFL so that Aaron Rodgers grandkids can each inherit 10 million dollars. Cam Jordan ("superstar") said he wanted and extra bye or a few extra roster spots and he'd be happy with it. That seems reasonable. I'd bet, depending on their financial situations, there are some owners that are far more willing to sit out for a better deal they think they can get next year versus some who would just like to come to an agreement now. Most of us make under 100K a year, hell probably under 50K if we're being honest and none seem to have issues supporting their families. Even after taxes a 3 year life span of the average player thats still around 500-600K during your tenure, money some will never see. Not to mention most are either college graduates or close to finishing or at least have the means to earn a degree. Insinuating that roster fodder or depth guys deserve a bigger slice of the pie, simply for showing up, is a little too socialist for me. Increase the salary cap if you want them to make more. My counterpoint to that is, what's the difference between not wanting to play anymore and not physically being able to play anymore? Most NFL teams will ask for their money back unless you have the rare exception of the steelers and Ryan Shazier who have kept him on the roster so he'd have NFL medical treatment and they'd still pay him. The Colts didn't go after Luck's signing bonus because they don't want the bad PR/potentially want him back. Those Sports as well make the vast majority of their money Promoting and Pimping out the Jordan's, Kobes , Lebrons, Curry's , Jeters, Ripkens, Trouts and Harpers of the world. No one even the most die hard of Fans gives 2 💩💩 about the 15th man on a NBA roster for their teams or 25th Utility Sub for their MLB. NFL is No difference! Since the SB it has been Non Stop Patrick Mahomes 24/7! Anyone not a Chiefs fan and without looking it up name players 47-53 or the 10 PS Players who also Won a SB Ring that Sunday? If Brady, Manning, Brees, and Rodgers didn’t play over the last decade and a half we would have had Ben win another SB or two, Wilson has another SB, Rivers in the playoffs almost every year and breaking all time regular season records, etc... We would never know players like Brady or Manning are possible and give super star treatment to others. Whether you add top players to the league or take them away, somebody is going to be on top and become a star. Those guys at the top then get the media hype and nobody cares if some hypothetical player could be better until he exists. If in another timeline Brady/Manning/Brees/Rodgers didn’t exist and Ben won the SB in 2010 he would have been universally regarded as the best in the league, and would have made the playoffs all four years he has missed since then without Brady/Manning taking spots or knocking him down. He probably wins another SB with the extra playoff trips and weaker competition and is considered the GOAT by many. Nobody would care in that timeline if better players could have existed.
