beardown3231
Interesting that there will be 17 games this year, assuming the TV deal is struck. The Bears opponents were set. How do they determine who that game will be against? Will that game be at home or on the road? Edited March 15, 2020 by beardown3231

WindyCity
Huge news for the Bears. It will make the Bears functional in free agency.

Pace may have the relative comfort of knowing the CAP will spike to as high as 250-260M during 2020/21/22/23. He could really bacload some deals now. WindyCity
198.2 million cap for 2020 is less than ideal, but shouldn’t be a killer.

Now that a post-6/1 cut is back on the table I wonder if the team is more willing to consider a cut on any of Leno, Massie or Burton. Dead money in such a cut can now be spread across 2 seasons, so the 2020 cap space benefit of their respective cuts would now be: Leno: +$6,606,000 Massie: +$2,900,000 Burton: +$4,800,000 The question becomes, can you adequately replace any of them for less, or at minimum, is the offset from a more expensive player replacement enough to justify the move? In theory you could now pay a replacement LT with a $10M cap hit in 2020 and it’d only be a net impact on our existing cap space of $3.4M which for the right player is VERY acceptable for the right guy IMO.

Such a cut on Burton may not be available right now since he’s not healthy.
AZBearsFan
Direct impact on an Allen Robinson extension of this deal is that he’s now for sure going to be seeking compensation based on a 17-game schedule which will raise all compensation expectations by 6.25% (1/16). beardown3231
Any guess on how much cap room the Bears will have, approximately?
soulman
Close vote. Only a 60 vote majority. We still don't know what the $$$ impact will be on the 2020 cap. Articles are estimating anywhere from +$5 mil to +$20 mil.

abstract_thought
Current player salaries will increase by 1/17 as soon as the NFL goes to 17 games.
