2020 Roster - how many spots do we need to upgrade/fill

Yes, we were 13-3 but we have a lot of guys who are nothing more than JAGs. Those are guys who I think we'd want to replace. Here are my thoughts on 1st string, 2nd string (currently) and JAGs. Guys you want to replace if you can.

Even if we keep ALL of the JAGs (in my opinion), we still need 5 more players. In theory we should want to replace as many as 17 players. Not sure that is feasible.

Stating the obvious but WR, ILB, DL and OL are desperate situations as we sit here today. I didn't include FB so if you want Vitale back we have one less spot to address.

  1st Team 2nd Team Jag/replaced

I think you can manage with multiple jags starting, you just can’t have holes like Bell, Brice, and one edge 2 years ago.

Right now I’d say have 2 clear holes where we are looking at starting a guys who will be abused or out of position;

OT- It is dire there right now

ILB- unless Burks pops, we need a guy

Places where we would like to upgrade but can manage if need be;

TE- stern and ton have potential and flashed a little

DL- Lowry is the definition of Jag. Lancaster is a solid role player. Then we have mid round flyers. We could manage against most teams except like SF/Bal

WR-similarly to las year, potential for guys to make a jump. More talent would be great though.

Keke showed promise and we all know DL take a year or two - so the jury is still out

Keke showed less this year than Adams did last year and we saw how that worked out. You can't count on Keke to be a player.

If you can't count on them, they pretty much by definition have to go into the JAG category.

I feel like if we upgrade at vertical threat and IDL and stay the same everywhere else we’re a legitimate contender.

We can afford SLIGHT decrease at RT.

If we improve at IDL significantly, we can do worse at ILB.

We also need to replace Tramon with a veteran.

We can use a player at literally every position group on the team. To me, the order of importance goes: DL, WR, LB, OT, TE, CB, RB, QB. Believe this draft is strong at RB, WR, and OT. I'd like to see those addressed in the draft, DL, LB, and CB addressed in FA.

Explain to me how Keke and Burks aren't both JAGs?

No thanks! It's a discussion thread and people are more than welcome to their own opinions of people. I'm giving both of those guys another year to develop and if they are bottom of the roster, then we're in good shape.

Explain to me who is better than Burks at ILB, on our current roster as it stands, heading into free agency? Kind of doubtful we turn over the entire crew, but if we can and upgrade, it will be at the cost of other position(s) with JAGs.

Feel free to continue to pick fly **** out of pepper, or perhaps make your own list!

Lancaster should at least be first team over him, even though he was meh, he was better than Keke last year.

Keke should have been moved to second team on my original list. This was my mistake, but Lancaster his hit his peak IMO and his peak is a JAG. Keke could surpass that, time will tell.

Just saying right now before any moves or anything he's our starter.

Yeah, I wasn't viewing it from what we look like today. I was viewing at where these folks should be next year and who should be gone from roster. More to the point what roster spots really need an upgrade. It's just my opinion, so take if for what it's worth!

That may or may not be true, but Lancaster wasn't a rookie, KeKe was.

I'm not ready to write him off after a rookie season. Hell - Gary gets a frickin free pass - not too much to ask KeKe gets the same
