At least as a stop-gap, they've still got a better case to make to someone like Trufant than these teams that haven't won in a while and are just trying to throw money around to cover that up.

The problem is Howard is injury prone and the NFL is investigating him due to a domestic dispute (although I think he'll be fine).

Sounds like in the end the Dolphins beat out the Raiders, so I can at least take solace in that. There's nothing wrong with what the Jags did as long as they don't botch the QB. That's literally going to get trumped by 20M+ by Ramsey next year and open the floodgates. Now's the time to get an elite corner in the teens.

RaidersAreOne
Raiders likely sign Chris Haris Jr. or trade for Slay now.

It wasn't a sustainable model in the long run and that really didn't have as much to do with Bortles as it might seem. Yes, they could have had a few years of success, which some might qualify as success, but the way the contracts were structured in order to keep handing them out year after year made it to where these guys were going to have to be cycled out every couple years or else, as we also saw happen, the space wasn't readily available to pay the hits they did make in the draft. All were easy outs after 2 years. As long as you draft well and have an average QB then there's nothing wrong with this. They don't have any big guys to pay on the horizon, just like we didn't. Jags are where they are because Bortles and terrible team management/botching who to keep and who to let go.
