A few things I took away from it; 1) He looked faster than I thought he would for a player his age-- certainly not a burner or anything but not noticeably a sloth like either. 2) Lined up all over the field. 3) The reported blocking concerns became very evident throughout. 4) He can find open space against zone coverage but cannot create space on his own and because of this he does not do well against man coverage. He was open twice and Rodgers just checked down. Three times if you count the option double-screen play (I don't think there was a right or wrong answer there though). 5) Was used in routes very similar to what Nagy like to run. Stick routes, screens, inside slants over the middle, etc. When I posted this the other day, I was gonna post these as well and give my opinion on each play individually but I didn't have the time when it was all said and done (even took the time to cut and upload them). This is every down that Graham played in the NFCC game. ColGerBear
That means if Graham is bad it's a 1 year $9 million deal.

So by releasing Floyd we covered the 2020 cap hits of both Graham and Quinn. Graham gets his entire $9 mil in 2020 ($6 mil SB/$ 3mil salary) and his 2021 cap hit will increase to $10 mil so I'd say the odds are pretty good that unless he becomes the Jimmy Graham of old we'll book the $3 mil of dead cap and release him next year.

Yup and between his SB and salary he'll earn that in 2020. With a 2021 cap hit of $10 mil I don't see him being around for more than a year. CBears019
Lol how did he get a no trade clause?

(Shrug) If that's what it takes but I'd say it's kinda meaningless unless he was worried about getting traded later this year. I don't think anyone would even trade a 7th for Graham and his $7 mil 2021 price tag.

beardown3231
Who cares about the NTC? No one was going to trade anything for this guy a few weeks into this season with such a cap hit. After this year they'll cut him with minimal cap issue. This is really overblown, and that's saying something because Pace sucks.

If Graham is valueless to the NFL why are we paying him top TE money?

Once more, Pace is a clown but now we're complaining to complain. He gave Graham $9M. That was stupid. This? Who cares, they're stuck with him for a season anyhow. I think we can all agree that it was a move made out of desperation to assure that we had at least on veteran TE capable of requiring some attention from defenses. Rather than look at the $9 mil gtd and a meaningless no trade clause we need to look at what the deal is for 2020. He's on the books for a $6 mil cap hit which is far less than he would have cost GB and we just accept that he's gonna cost us $3 mil in dead cap next year when it will be more easily digested. We had nearly $7 mil in dead cap this year. If we can get 500 yards and a handful of TDs from him we're good. This is a pretty clear indication we have no idea what to expect from Burton. We owe him another $4 mil in gtd salary and we can save some cash if we release him but only about $1 mil in cap space. The bottom line is we've vastly over paid for both Burton and Shaheen so we have to gamble on Graham.

Once we release Shaheen and Braunecker (both of which seem like just a formality at this point) we will recoup almost half ($2.7M) of Graham’s cap hit for 2020.
