Maybe I am a little bit crazy

if he doesn’t take the next step, I’d seriously let his contract expire or trade him rather than overpay for him to stay. He’s not an impact player right now and we need an impact player at that position, not try and settle for average/slightly above average just because he’s home grown

he has the ten quietest sacks you can imagine. Need more from a guy that we did indeed invest a lot on from an impact standpoint. Rashaan Evans, for example, made IMPACT plays in the playoffs. That’s what you hope to see from your growing, young and talented LBs. Landry was a ghost down the stretch

bruh that sounds crazy.. the guy went from 4.5 sacks in a limited role his rookie year to 9 as a starter in his second. i agree that he was quiet during stretches, but dont write the book on they guy after his second year in which he improved. He can be a year in and year out 10 sack guy. he's gonna keep improving. if casey still gives us his 6+ sacks a year, with the improvement of simmons into what we all think he can be and the addition of beasley and maybe a new guy, the pass rush unit will be fine. point is, landry is progressing just fine and i expect him to take another jump in his 3rd year. go easy on him

as it pertains to Beasley,

i wonder if they will have him be an every down guy or more of a specialist? we paid cam wake 10 million last year to be a specialist and beasley MAY come in to be that same guy this year. I could see us going edge within the first two rounds cuz we are still short a guy unless we bring back Correa.

It's possible but I think Beasley will see more playing time than Wake overall just simply due to the fact he is much younger.

I actually am a fan of signing Beasley on a prove it deal. He is athletic and has gotten good pressure and sacks in the past. I think he needs refinement but I believe Vrabel and the other coaches can help with that.

Of who was left, other than Clowney who will cost a ton and is not an elite pass rusher but a great overall OLB, Beasley would have been next on my list.

I also do think Correa comes back so that will be another solid body at OLB.

At this stage, unless we hit a home run in the draft for a star pass rusher, I think it is going to be a committee again. Which if we can have three OLBs who get 7+ sacks that is doing pretty good. Not every team has an elite pass rusher which is why they get paid premium on the open market.

yeah i agree with you. i hope/think this coaching staff will get more out of him. falcon fans for the most part have said he was used out of position and that played a part in his "regression". reminds me of what was said about correa when he came from baltimore. almost similiar situations. i wonder if we will replace correa with walker tho? would be cheaper, but also unproven. we shall see.

Could be Walker replaces Correa as he was a productive player in college. I think the staff really likes Correa though and wants him back. I obviously am not in the locker room but seemed like they gave him every chance to succeed and put him in good spots. Also played a lot down the line when it mattered most.

yeah, facts. we will see. apparently they have an offer extended to him. i'd be fine with FA if we bring him, logan, and tajae back. our team would be set and we would only get better when the draft comes around.

Let's assume he doesn't continue his tear from last season, and posts an average season for him (8 sacks).  Let's even assume Landry doesn't do as much and only registers 8.  We've got Casey, who should be good for 4 (a career low since 2012), Simmons should be at least that as well, but I think we can rely on 5.  That's 25 sacks before factoring in Finch (2 last season), Roberson (3 last season), Jones (1), Mack (1.5), or Walker.

We only had 32 sacks from DL/OLBs last season.  So even assuming regression from Landry and Casey, an average season for Beasley, and no growth from any of our depth guys who are all young, we're ahead of last season.  I'm not worried about bringing back Correa.  He had a career year last season.  Remember how we all thought he was gonna be cut preseason?  He'll probably be too expensive after a 5 sack season, and the Titans have repeatedly chosen unknown young guy over proven but unspectacular vet when it came down to it.

I'm actually pretty comfortable with them not investing a pick at the position anymore.  Anything after 3 means he's in consideration to be cut or a huge steal.  Roberson played well last year, Finch deserves at least a shot in camp, and Walker I expect to see some good things from.

Better to invest that pick in some OLs, CBs, WRs, and RBs to replenish our depth there.  And a rookie QB.

Just want to point out that Finch isn't on the roster.

I'm still not at the point where I'm comfortable in not taking a pass rusher. If a good one is there come draft time, I hope we won't hesitate to take one.

Oh snap.  Well, scratch his name and insert Reggie Gilbert, I guess?

Oh if a good one is there, take him.  I just feel comfortable now if we go through the draft and the BPA isn't a pass rusher at any point.  I'd put CB, OT, and RB above Edge in need now.  WR is up there with it too.

i like the thought here. i can digg it. the defense only gets better if these guys have break out years, i.e Landry going for 12 + sacks, and simmons breaking onto the scene with 8+ and casey bouncing back to 8+ as well with somebody out of the roberson, gilbert, walker group bring 5 off the bench.. now we would be cooking with GREASE!
