jimkelly02 Posted March 17, 2020 Share Posted March 17, 2020 These “max” of 4.5M typically turn out to be a 2.5M deal when details come out a few days later. i can’t say I expected this at all but when you think about it with Moreau injured and Carrier having a 1.9M cap hit and no dead cap if Witten costs 2.5-3M that additional 1.0M+ over Carrier is worth it. Waller was balling out last year but it never hurts to surround him with a guy like Witten to mentor him into one of the leagues best. Mr Raider Posted March 17, 2020 Share Posted March 17, 2020 I don't mind it. He'll be no more than the second TE, and likely third unless Moreau has trouble regaining his health. Never a bad idea to have a guy thats produced at the highest level and is a good veteran presence and leader. Especially when you have a guy in Waller that almost threw it all away, the more positive influences the better, and even just in general for young guys trying to make it in the NFL.
