I think the value for him may be closer to 2/12M, but either way we need more DL talent. I think Purcell is a 50% snap guy at best. A good 50% of snaps, but a rotation guy. Jones is going to be a stud, but relying on him as a 80-100% snap count right now is pretty risky. Casey also is a stud, but IMO he should be kept around 70% of snaps to ensure he is fresh now that he is older. After them there is Walker who seems to be a 3rd down rusher only, maybe eating 25-30% of snaps. Long story short, we have room basically for another DL that plays 60-70% of our snaps AND a rookie rotation guy to eat 20-30%.

If not Wolfe, I still have an odd affinity for Anthony Zettel. 

(This is all basing the DL rotation on 300% snaps total over the 3 spots, sorry if its confusing. I find looking at snap count a new interesting way to look at a position group, especially DL)

Glasgow cap hit is less than $6,000,000. 

Who knows where the cash budget stands but there is plenty of cap room left, and that’s accounting for the draft and emergency funds. Just re-sign Wolfe. At this point, using him in a primarily early down rotation role is exactly what the DL needs.

Ya, I am starting to worry about a cash budget issue. There is no reason to sit on our hands like this. I don't even want big names, but we need depth signings to ensure the draft isn't a reach fest to fill need. 

Sharpe just signed a 1 year deal w/ Minnesota. He would have been an excellent stopgap low tier WR2 to cover out draft bases.

Dorsett signed a 1-year / 1M deal too.  A guy like Sharpe, Higgins, Dorsett all would fit the bill so cheaply.    Dorsett & Perriman (who was much more expensive, so I get it) offer the verticality that we lack. 

Again, to be clear we clearly should target WR with likely 1 of our top 2 picks, given the top-end talent that will be available (would not reach at 15 for anyone outside the top 3, though).  But the thought we only need to invest into 1 high-end rookie is questionable.  There is NO one on our roster that we can assume can be a WR2 - and a rookie being ready to help right away is a 1-2x a year event.     Even guys like Deebo Samuel and AJ Brown took a while to really take off - and they're already outliers for having a year 1 impact.   There are a ton of rookie WR's who end up being elite ceiling / top-tier guys...who don't make much an impact year 1.     Even Sutton's impact was tough to call him WR2 level.    

The draft is not how you improve present-year odds outside of Rd1.   If it happens, great.   But you cannot be banking on it, save for RB, and maybe ILB (but even then, it's not even close to the same as RB impact).   It's why I truly don't see our legit window for sustained contention to open until 2021, even assuming Lock progresses, and our youth core advances.   We're headed in the right way, but the holes our roster has post-FA now, and likely still even after the bargain basement / roster cuts providing choices, just has us at that better-but-not-contender stage.   Then again, we still have a lot more hope than last year, and it's refreshing not to have to worry about what QB Elway is targeting this offseason (succeed or fail, it's Lock's team for likely 2020 & entering 2021).  

Side note - the draft going on schedule is a terrible move by the NFL.   Draft guys not doing full workouts, and no interviews/visits - man, there's going to be a TON of variation on player valuation this draft.   The NFL should delay the draft 4-6 weeks - it's not like there's a realistic hope OTA's will be happening as scheduled, or that players will be in the same conditioning/readiness then anyways.   SMH.

No DL in the NFL play 90-100% snaps. With all of the packages and looks everyone gets rotated out. There are a few superstars like Joey Bosa and Aaron Donald who top 80% but most starters are in the 60-70% range (Casey was 64% last year) last year we only had 1 DL play more than 50% of the snaps (S.Harris had 60%)

now this just reinforces the fact that we need more depth and players to eat snaps (kind of like those bulldog middle inning relievers who eat up innings)

I'm on board with either WR Paul Richardson or Rashard Higgins, we need a veteran WR IMO. As for Wolfe, love his leadership and tenacity but given his injury history think a 2yr 15M is the max for him, he's only played 16 games once in the last 5 years.

Ya, that's what I was saying. Adding the snap counts of Casey, Purcell and even assuming a higher count for Jones and Walker its clear this team needs two more rotation guys at DL. We need to sign someone and draft a middle round guy (I would actually have no issues w/ Kinlaw at 15, just prefer other guys more). 

A new favorite of mine is Davon Hamilton. One year wonder so he likely drops but he has excellent disruptive ability for a guy who is 6'4 320lbs. I think he could lose 10lbs, become even more explosive and be a 34DE. He gets pigeon holed as a interior guy but his testing is better than '34DE accepted' guys. I would wager he is a better athlete than Jordan Elliot, Raekwon Davis, Leki Fotu and even Derrick Brown. Kid would be a deal in R3. I project his versatility as being a early down 34DE and rushing specialist NT. 

Sign Wolfe, get Davon in R3.

With Glasgow's contract added to the list, Over The Cap has us with over $21M in cap space.

Glasgow is taking Leary's spot in the lineup so I think we are all but locked in on the kids from Temple and Wisconsin. Best 2 Centers in the draft by far.

 

Wouldn't mind Elway getting a vet WR and DE. We lost both our DE starters. Bring back Wolfe.

Former XFL WR Cam Phillips drawing interest from MIA and CIN, had a strong season in XFL. Wouldn't mind pulling him away for CIN and other AFC opponents.
