Something has to be coming, you don't let go of a player like him just for kicks.
Just sucks. He was a "forever Titan" type player. And for just an 7th is a kick in the under regions.

exactly. the fact that it was a 7th makes me think they were more interested on the salary dump than getting equal return. return value may come with the player they sign (hopefully) with the money they saved by trading him.. either way, CASEY was a class act, a titan great, and with a few more pro bowl nods, a borderline HOF'er.. best of luck to the man...

we are REALLY thin at DT now by the way.

Need way more on defense. Guys like Beasley and even if we sign Clowney are definitely not leader types. Evans and Brown could be there but I don’t know.

Yeah.
Defense doesn't have a voice right now. Evans has to step up.

Im guessing reconstructing wasn’t on the table

So a restructure is in play if you plan on keeping a guy long term, just need some short term cap relief. A restructure shifts cap money around.

Very different from a pay cut, which in sure he wasn't interested in.

Was he a dominating 10-11 sack guy no.  Matter of fact a lot of people last season were upset with him because they felt he disappeared too much. Also keep in mind he was coming off an injury late the previous year.

I think he is still a good 5-6 sack DT, but likely not worth $13-14 million per year.
But he was sho nuff more valuable than an 7th round pick.

It's strictly a cap move. He was such a great player for us for so long, a fan favorite so we obviously have strong feelings towards this move. Would have thought we'd be able to get a 5th at least... Or a conditional... But hes just franky not worth the money he's getting.

It's still a sad day. Thought this was a move that would have happened next year, not this year... Give him a chance to rebound with the best group around him since we'd drafted him.
