Bears to trade 4th Round Pick to Jaguars for Nick Foles

Recommended Posts

So we are restructuring the contract. But whatever it is, it's too much. Hoping more details come out that we got something from Jax too, otherwise I hate losing a fourth for this.

I have never liked Mitch more, turn it around Mitchell, win this damn battle.

Let the hate flow.

There is no move Bears could have made that would have made people happy.

Maybe Brady.  Even then it would be he is so Old!!!

I think most of us said about half way through 2019 season when O was floundering that Foles made the most sense for a QB change.

1) He is available

2) He knows the system.

3) He has played well in recent past.

This isn't great, but it isn't the worst disaster.  It is a gamble that Foles still can play like he has in spurts in the past.

Nagy was one of the voices in the room in Philly when Foles was drafted. He's liked him for a while.

John DeFilippo was his QB coach when the dude won Super Bowl MVP.

For a QB2, and again depending upon cost, this is a nice move.

They need to go all in and invest on young offensive lineman now. Foles will need it.

I forgot about DeFlippo.  This was best of bad choices IMO.

I maintain that as big a disappointment as 2019 Bears were the 2020 Bears could be just as big a pleasant surprise.

You just never really know how things will turn out.

IF

1) Foles brings improved play and O is respectable rather than a disaster.  They went 8-8 as a disaster.

2) OLine with new coach and sans Long from get go plays better.

3) 1 impact player from draft.

4) Defense stays healthy.

All those things are not ridiculous and impossible.  Bears could be a sleeper 2020 team.

Remember too that a lot of these guys have worked together and offseason is being cut down.

Teams that already know what they are doing and not learning as they go are going to be at an advantage.

Unfortunately no one in our division falls in that category and we are only ones with a new QB.  But at least its a QB who knows these coaches.

I for one do not hate this move. This guy has shown to effectively run this offense.  If the Jaguars are taking the cap hit in 2020, how does that affect us? I hate that we lost a 4th round pick, but I think the Jags were really unwilling to budge.

With Foles, I feel good about the offense taking a step forward and being competent.

Guy he isn't coming to be QB2, hes going to be the starter.
