Mock Attempt Final before Draft Day (Post combine / Post FA)

So we brought in Blake Martinez and James Bradberry as our big catches. Cant really disagree with either one. Deff needed a veteran presence with JB coming and Blake Martinez is tackling machine who can line up on the inside. Cam Fleming adds a decent swing tackle / depth along the line and Nate Ebner is a guy Judge coached up in his team with New England. Levine Toilolo and Kyler Fackrell are depth / competition for the season. Still.. we lack some key areas. Gotta be that DG is setting us up for the draft with whats left to address...

2020 Mock NYG Draft Class -

*** Giants trade 4th pick of 1st rd (4th overall) to LA Chargers for their 6th pick (6th overall), 2nd (37th overall) and 5th (151st overall)

1st - 6th overall (trade w/LAC)- OT Tristan Wirfs / Iowa

We need to let go of the Isaiah Simmons thought processes. I see clear as day where Gettleman is taking us. He has set us up to go after this drafts strengthes and that is the OL. Lets face it, we brought in Jason Garrett. What did he have that made him successful in Dallas, a brick wall of an oline. This pick is almost a no brainer after we do a trade down with LA to acquire more picks. Wirfs put on a total freak show at the draft. Me personally I think Andrew Thomas is the best OT in this class, but I believe it's this guy or Mekhi Becton that Gettleman is enamored with. In the end I think Wirfs insane combine workout wins over DG. The shocker of this is not so much that LA trades up with us to go after Justin Herbert at our would be #4 pick but the fact that Dave Gettleman trades down for the first time in his career. I see this happening. I think with the fact that Joe Judge came from a winning organization in New England (the best draft handling team of the last 15 yrs)...Gettleman will take his advice and trade down to acquire more capital. And don't be surprised if he makes more than 1 trade.

2nd - 36th overall - OC Cesar Ruiz / Michigan

Here ya go.. Solidifying the lines. Ruiz has established himself as the top center in this draft after the combine. I truly see us going for a tackle and center for our first 2 picks. It just makes too much sense. And it backs up Gettleman's 'hog molly' love.

2nd- 37th overall (f/LAC)- LB Zack Baun / Wisconsin

Adding in another LB wouldn't hurt, even with the signing of Martinez and resigning of David Mayo, I still see us bringing in Baun to compete for a spot. This brings the competition to a whole new level come training camp.

3rd- 99th overall - EDGE Darrell Taylor / Tennessee

This is where I think we finally address pass rush. I truly see our first 3 picks being 2 on offense then 1 defence. Edge I believe will be addressed here with Taylor.

4th- 110th overall - WR Chase Claypool / Notre Dame

Seems we do an outstanding job of addressing receivers in late rounds and Claypool has a ton of upside to go with size. A lot of scouts from our team were at the combine eyeing this kid, so I can see us grabbing him here.

5th - 7th... BPA BPA BPA BPA

2020 Potential *** starting lineup

Offense -

QB / Daniel Jones  / RB Saquon Barkley / WRs Sterling Shepard, Golden Tate, Darius Slayton / TE Evan Engram, Levine Toilolo / OT Tristan Wirfs, LG Will Hernandez , C Cesar Ruiz, RG Kevin Zeitler, RT Nate Solder

Defence -

DE Leonard Williams  DT Dexter Lawrence  DE Dalvin Tomlinson / LB Ryan Connelly LB Blake Martinez LB Lorenzo Carter LB Oshane Ximenes / CB Deandre Baker CB James Bradberry / S Julian Love S Jabrill Peppers

Specialists -

K Aldrick Rosas / P Riley Dixon

So let me get this straight:

Our defense sucks.

Not really any great athletes on that side of the ball

No speed.

OL class is deep

The drop between Simmons and the next best LB is substantial

We’ve spent an abundance of resources on the OL over the years yet we’re still not even average

And with all that said, we’re going to miss out an elite defensive prospect which he haven’t had for yearssssssss for yet another offensive lineman. Nope, no way.

Have you forgotten who is running our organization....

Oh btw I have officially hopped off the DG camp truck. Now waiting firm in the wait and see camp before I crucify him. Although, I am getting closer and closer every day.

I think the Idea behind signing Martinez was Judge wanted someone who could excel in a similar role to Hightower had for the Patriots. Simmons would seriously be the perfect compliment to what we have currently on D. Doesn't need to be bothered about shedding incoming blockers because our beefy trio up front. Can allow Martinez to focus solely on the run game and blitzing cause Simmons can handle TE's and RB's in the pass game.  To be fair we could find this in the second round as well, and still improve our O-Line.

Also we were pretty average on the Line last year. Outside of Solder...

If we don't take Simmons after this offseason, I will be flabbergasted.

I like it.  Would love it if Gross Matos fell to us in the second round.

I think the plan going forward at LB is Martinez, Connelly and Mayo.  If we add another guy, hopefully it's someone with more athleticism.

A player I think should get more attention from us, if we trade down to 6, is K'Lavon Chassion. Rumor is, the league likes him way more than the "draft gurus", and he is a do it all kind of player. You could even use him in coverage if need be. Reminds me of Leonard Floyd w/ more pass rush moves.

Bare in mind TEs have been killing us for years too. Forgot to mention that.

We’re like the dolphins when it comes to the offensive line. Spent resources after resources on the o-line and at no point did they compile a good o-line in that time. Im done with that experiment.

Let me also justify as well with Wirfs (or possibly Becton) that we no longer have a right tackle. Mike Remmers is a free agent,  and I don't think this organization is totally sold on Nick Gates.  Fleming was brought in for depth and possibly a swing tackle. He played both positions for Dallas to help out. Nate Solder has said he'd be more than willing to move over to RT fpr the organization and help out. Now with his contract we are stuck with him for at least another season. This leaves a glaring hole at LT... in comes Wirfs. Ill be honest I can see the Lions taking Simmons. Everyone forgets they are in front of us and even with that said .. I still think we are gonna ultimately pass on Simmons. Let me tell u all right now the Lions will not be taking Jeff Okudah. With Darius Slay getting traded, they now have a dearth of capital now to replace him with and Simmons I think will either be their pick at 3 or even 5 if they trade down w/the Dolphins.

I could def seeing us add a player like Kenneth Murray/Jordyn Brooks in round 2. Especially if we trade down. I like Zach Baun, but idk what exactly his floor is and I have never been a fan of prospects with that high of bust potential.

All things you have said are so true it hurts. But I feel like you're just ignoring who is running this team.

I think going Wirfs and Ruiz is a luxury.  Wirfs and Queen and Baun is way easier to swallow. Then take C in fourth.

I would personally like to trade from 6 to mid teens and get some more picks. I’d take the best OL at that point (which might be Thomas), then Queen, Baun, and a true deep FS.

I don’t understand though. They just traded their best corner, heck a top 10 corner. So why wouldn’t they an elite CB prospect?

Trufant is still a solid CB, but he’s 29.  I could see them going with either.

They just released Devon Kennard and now have an opening at the OLB position plus brought in Desmond Trufant. They will have a ton of draft capital to take another corner whether it be Kristian Fulton, CJ Henderson or another prospect they feel is capable. BPA situation for them falls with Simmons and now it falls with the best of both worlds... BPA + position of need. Simmons all things considered is arguably the best player in this draft.
