That's still only certain people that will have the choice

Tbh, a strong majority of people will likely have a choice. It isnt mandatory at my hospital,  and I havent heard it being mandatory anywhere else. At most, you may have a few businesses require it for their employees, airlines require it (or a mask) for traveling until the virus dies down, and concert/sporting venues requiring it until it dies down. And, honestly, in a capitalistic society- it makes sense that businesses would have the right to do what they seem fit to protect their employees, and even then people still have a choice to quit their job.

I hope you're right

#vaccine

got my 2nd dose of the pfizer vaccine tonight.

I will post a few updates if I have any noteworthy symptoms.

So far, I do not feel my DNA being altered in case anyone was buying that conspiracy theory.

#vaccine

24 hours after 2nd dose of Pfizer.  Nothing of note for symptoms or side effects.  Mild local soreness around the injection site.

I'll check with my wife if my penis is .....enhanced in any way!!!!!

The NFL doing something nice.

The NFL said it is inviting some 7,500 vaccinated health care workers to the game on Feb. 7., "to thank and honor them for their continued extraordinary service during the pandemic." The NFL said in a press release that most of the tickets will go to health care workers in the central Florida area who have received both doses of the vaccine. But all of the NFL's 32 clubs will pick workers from their communities to receive free tickets to the sport's biggest game.

"May be", "could be", "might be".

If a source has that in the headlines, odds are, it's garbage.

Doesn't look that way to me this time.

There have been several independent analyses of SGTF and non-SGTF cases identified through Pillar 2 testing linked to the PHE COVID-19 deaths line list:

a. LSHTM: reported that the relative hazard of death within 28 days of test for VOC-infected individuals compared to non-VOC was 1.35 (95%CI 1.08-1.68).

b. Imperial College London: mean ratio of CFR for VOC-infected individuals compared to non-VOC was 1.36 (95%CI 1.18-1.56) by a case-control weighting method, 1.29 (95%CI 1.07-1.54) by a standardised CFR method.

c. University of Exeter: mortality hazard ratio for VOC-infected individuals compared to non-VOC was 1.91 (1.35 - 2.71).

d. These analyses were all adjusted in various ways for age, location, time and other variables.

They've shown some statistical significance.

Regarding the vaccine choice and keeping it voluntary, at this point the only legitimate reason someone shouldn't be getting the Pfizer/Moderna vaccines today is because they aren't eligible as a minor/pregnant woman/person with an underlying health condition.

Otherwise, here's the situation:

  1. We've given about 20 million doses, and only seen mild allergic reactions. This thing is safe. We hypothesized it would be based on the underlying science, we demonstrated it in animals, we demonstrated at a statistically significant level in the clinic, and we've blown past that point by orders of magnitude. If you were waiting because you wanted to be extra safe, it's time.
  2. The first COVID vaccine was given out on December 14th. Our 7-day rolling average of cases was 216k/day that day. At our peak, that rolling average went up to 250k/day at the New Year. We're already seeing that drop to ~180k as of the end of this week. That means not only did the vaccine help stop COVID's momentum, we've seen cases drop 28% in 3 weeks. That 70k case/day drop, at 0.5% mortality, is already a daily gap of 350 lives saved. We hypothesized this would work based on the underlying science, we demonstrated efficacy in the clinic, and now a month into giving this thing the results are showing up. This thing works.

At this point, once you're eligible, the bar for ending this pandemic is 2 30 minute appointments where you get a little stick in the shoulder and sit in your car for 15 minutes after. Hell, you can order a pizza for pickup online while you wait. Time to be a decent citizen, step up, and end this awful plague. If you can't be bothered, or chose "no" without any medical justification, know that at this point the only justification for the decision is that it isn't expressly illegal. That doesn't make it at all moral.

The marketing should be it is better than Viagra.   Would probably cause a stampede by a subset of the population
