wackywabbit
Ravens retain a quality outside CB. The top 4 CBs look great on paper and have some depth to survive the inevitable injury or two. LeotheLion
I know his play has dropped off but this seems like a steal.

Jimmy loves it here and while he probably could’ve gotten more elsewhere he loves it here and sees the championship potential. He was Lamar’s biggest defender after that Chargers playoff game two years ago. Though I’m sure being above 30 and having a concerning injury history also killed some FA value. Amongst other things.
AFlaccoSeagulls
Man our secondary is LOADED. Jimmy Smith could still be a CB1/CB2 for a lot of teams in the NFL, but here he is riding the bench as a depth corner for us lol

wackywabbit
He's yet to show that he CAN'T be a quality outside CB when he's on the field. The problem is that you can't count on him to stay healthy a full season and if you are counting on him to be there and he suddenly gets hurt, then you are sunk. It happened several times to the Ravens. He got hurt week 1 and our defense had a terrible stretch (already down Tavon) until we did something about it and acquired Peters. Now that he's another body who can fill in, or a be replaced after injury is a great situation for the Ravens.

In fairness to Smith, as he's a guy that's definitely earned his reputation for being unable to stay on the field, the week 1 hit that took him out was a teammate rolling into his leg from the front. Freak play that's not really representative of fragility on his part (and he came back nicely given how it initially looked). Again, though, reputation isn't untrue.
Danand
He always find some injury to take him out of a couple a games a season, so it is essentially a 12-13 game contract. You get great quality in those games though. I can understand why other teams would be iffy to pay him more than what he got, and I can understand why he took the hometown discount. If he has a full year healthy and still wants to play and show he can be a more versatile piece seeing action as a safety, he might bump his value next off season.
