He doesn’t have an “act”. He just has a personality you choose not to like. He’s been a total pro, community leader and great teammate in Carolina. If Cams healthy BB would     be crazy not to kick the tires on Cam. He’s got a cannon of an arm and is a 3rd down conversion machine. That would be an effective tool with NE defense.

The guy is acting SILLY he's really trying to imply Stidham would have a better season than a healthy Cam Newton.

Even without his wheels Cam Newton can throw decently and is ALWAYS  a great improviser and in 2018, a season that shadowed this one, where everyone was claiming he was done, he still threw for 25 TD's and 3.3k yards. On top of that Cam Newton knows his worth, he hasn't got an ego cause he thinks hes starting caliber lol, cause he is.

I don't understand how everyone comes at this with such confidence around Cam having some kind of toxic ego. From everything I've seen, dude was beloved by his teammates in Carolina. Other than that, I guess we've got that he's got... weird fashion sense?

The media has run a slander campaign against Cam his entire career. Let’s not forget the borderline racist narratives that surrounded his early years. “Fake smile,  Scam Newton, Can’t read defenses.” These are all ignorant hot takes people like Colin Cowherd and haters alike use to knock an otherwise awesome player and fun loving teammate.

Cam deserves a lot better from the NFL. They let the Broncos head hunt him out of a SB and SB rematch. His HC ran him into the ground to save his own *** for years and he’s never had a real LT or legit WR in his prime to help him. Norv Turner had Cam on the right track the last 2 years he just unfortunately got hurt.

Yep and the Patriots have a good o-line. I think it'll work well to Cam's strengths, lets not forget this year he didnt have time to heal that foot injury, they carted him out onto the field, making it worse. He'll have almost a year of healing by the time the regular season starts. Why not sign the guy?!?

No idea why you’d want a QB with hella accuracy issues who’s major advantage (being a running back) is now at a steep decline because of injuries.

In 2018 (the last season he completed fully) he completed 68% of his passes for an average of 8 yards. That seems like its hitting a lot of the time right?

Why? Lock had a good 5 games. Still, it is a short amount of time and sample size.

Several reasons. For one, he was an early pick, not a 1st rounder but an early second so they invested fairly heavily draft capital wise. Second, as a rookie theres no argument to say he didnt play at least above average... theres no way you sit him or risk stunting his development. It makes no sense, regardless of the sample size. Third, he used nothing to support his opinion.

And he's been over 60% approximately one other time in his career and has a 56% completion percentage for his career.

He's not a naturally accurate quarterback throwing the football in a more open scheme. At this point, we know that. We have so many years of even just eye test data that shows that, nevermind the actual raw digits.

Now, that doesn't mean that you can't put him in a situation where he can complete a higher percentage of his passes. In 2018, he wasn't throwing the ball down field. His average depth of target was 7 yards. He was below Case Keenum. It was significantly lower than his previous average depth of target (by more than a yard). That's the trade off. It's not necessarily good or bad. Look at Jimmy G. He had one of the lowest average depth of targets in the NFL last year, yet the 49ers were one of the league leaders in explosive plays because of the guys he's throwing the ball to. So if you're going to play that game, you probably want the right skill players, and I'm not sure that New England has that.

So he had one season where he just checked down to McCaffrey? Okay cool. What about the rest of his career?

honestly he wasnt. He never developed into a consistently good passer, which is what you need to be in todays NFL.

I’m not saying Cam never had flaws. He would overthrow his targets at times but what a lot of the stat freaks don’t understand is that Cam plays to win. It’s not like he’s out there throwing passes to prove his statistical worthyness as a passer. If Matt Ryan had the size and speed of Cam Newton he wouldn’t have the same numbers. Why would Cam throw to a 5 yard pass to Kaelin Clay or no hands Devin Funchess when he knows he can automatically get the yardage himself. You have to look at the total package of the player.
