Great hands, but he doesn't have the burst anymore, and you don't want to count on him to block. we could use a redzone specialist.

The Bengals have Auden Tate and AJ Green for that role now (and CJ Uzomah can catch a ball too) so i'm not surprised getting him re-signed wasn't a priority for the Bengals. He may not be his pro bowl self but if he's on the field he still provides us a very solid receiving threat, especially in the red zone. Something we've lacked at the TE position for a while.

Look at his injury history. It's not like he's having soft tissue injuries. He's had broken ankles and other freak injuries. There's no way I'm banking on him staying healthy all year, but why not take the chance? We have an issue at the position and right when the signing happened he ultimately comes in as the most talented TE we've ever had in Jaguars history as strictly a pass catcher. Kyle Brady and Marcedes Lewis each had some good seasons, but Eifert definitely has had bigger highs and showed more than either of those guys ever did. If he even plays 11-12 games that'd be big for the offense. If he doesn't/continues down the injury riddled road we move on and are back to where we were. If he somehow stays healthy this is a bargain.🤷♂️

When I first read this I was thinking the Raiders were also bidding because we're the TE Hoover vacuum and I'm like 6 TE's?!? Forgot about Jay LOL Tyler qualifies as a vet who Jon would probably covet. LOL

They have guys with speed who can make plays downfield. Need a chain mover/safety valve more than anything really. So that's fine with me. I mean...it'd be better if he was still 100% of what he was at his peak, but this'll do. Especially when we really have nothing else at all at the TE spot.
