Only tarnish is the Waynes overpay, but I'm not going to rake this team accross the coals for finally spending. Really looking forward to this season.
theJ
That's a good signing. Though I do wonder if they intend for him to play 3 downs? Thought he was mostly a 2 LB through his career (though a very good one).
fluhartz
so we let vigil run to SD and signed this dude.... #upgrayedd
Beck Bristow
Good signing. Solid veteran, assuming not a huge contract, but someone to team up with pratt and whoever gets drafted.

Depending on how much you rotate, Bynes can play all three downs as long as you don't ask him to run down the field covering TE's, RB's and WR's. He did quite well getting into passing lanes and disrupt the play that way and was good at getting to the QB's outlet in the backfield (typically the RB) and he uses his eyes well to spy on the QB. He literally came in 3-4 days before our first Steelers game this year and shore up that middle of the defense that none of our young, athletic and aggressive linebackers could do. You could do a lot worse, and most Ravens fans wanted him back.
THE DUKE
Given our depth chart, the market, and how the draft is shaping up, this was a much needed and important signing. If we get one of the coverage LB in the mid rounds they can split time with Bynes and Pratt will essentially be a 3 down LB this year but still probably come out on 3rd and longs where Williams and said coverage LB would be in. It's not a disaster now if we don't get a LB on day 2.
Johnny Nix
I think we still should grab one more FA LB to really open up the draft to go BPA each round.

If the right guy is out there, sure. If Ogletree gets desperate and we can get him on a cheap one year deal, then make it happen.

INbengalfan
Great deal. More flexibility for day 2 of the draft too. Now how about Vonn Bell?
TheVillain112
Joe Goodberry highlighted that the offseason signings thus far seems to address the defense's lack of ability to stop the run: Reader, Waynes, Alexander, and now Bynes are all massive upgrades in run-defense grades:
sparky151
Bynes is a good signing. He's 30 so they probably didn't want to give him a long term deal. Along with Pratt and Nickerson, we're still thin at LB and should sign another vet. Nigel Bradham is available. He's a coverage specialist, not as strong in run defense. Or we could go for a Danny Trevathan or Pernell McPhee. Trading for Davis would be ok. I'm sorry we didn't outbid the Raiders for Kwiatkoski. He only signed for 7 mil per and getting him and Bynes would have been great.
