2021 NFL Draft Order

Recommended Posts

Obviously, we are a long way away from this happening but it begs an interesting question. If the 2020 NFL season is cancelled, How would you determine the 2021 NFL draft order?

Jaguars have a good shot at #1 if they trade Yannick, and they start Minshew all year.

Random draw.

NFL teams go from worst to first, and playoff teams miss the playoffs, etc. often enough that this is the only fair solution.  We shouldn't let teams double dip at top talent because they were bad in 2019.  Of course, if there's no NFL season in 2020 , then there probably isn't a CFB season either so I'm not sure there'd be a draft.

There would have to be a draft. Time moves on. You can't freeze everyone at the same college year simply because a football season wasn't played. Maybe players get a redshirt if desired but the guys who become eligible like Lawrence can't be frozen out.

They would still have a draft.  No clue how they would determine order though.  Maybe a basketball style lottery.

Says who? It’s the NFL and they can do what they want.

Do it like the nba with the lottery, but just 1 ball each.  Then snake draft like fantasy football.

Yes!  Lottery and snake draft.

That would be awesome.

Imagine if there's no 2021 draft. Any team with an extra 2021 pick via a trade would get screwed

Imagine a team like the Chiefs getting #1 overall and the haul they'd get for Lawrence. Wouldn't be fair to the rest

So, what would be done about the fact that there was no 2021 season for college ball? If there’s no NFL season it’s hard for me to imagine there’s a college season.

Scouting would be the wild west.

Lottery and snake draft, like the NHL did after the lockout season. Extend the draft to 8 rounds and scrap compensatory picks.
