IIRC, rookie camps still happened in 2011. Players sued and the courts ruled that players not under contract (free agents and rookies) could not be locked out. So rookie minicamps continued as normal. Some of the other offseason program was cut and shortened however.

The players did suew, and got a temporary stay.  Players reported, but NEVER practiced.  So Dalton may have had a playbook.

 

The players that did meet and practice were organized by vets like Whitworth.
