Hello and welcome to the 2020 FFMD II Detroit Lions Front Office!

For those that aren't familiar, FFMD is an opportunity for the members of each team's forum to take charge of their respective franchise. As a group, we'll have the opportunity, starting now (and using our current roster), to make trades and select players for the 2020 NFL Draft.

If you'd like to participate, please read a few important pieces of information:

  • Please reference the FFMD II '20 Discussion / Guidelines thread for all information pertaining to FFMD II '20. (Additional FFMD II '20 threads and information, to include the draft thread, will be posted in the GM Mock Drafts forum.)
  • The Guidelines, as posted in the Discussion / Guidelines thread, are as follows:

The general rules are basic; If a forum member wants to participate do not exclude them.  You and your front office must work as a collective. As the GM of your team you’ll collaborate within your team’s war room as to which players to draft, whom to cut or trade away.  The concept of this mock is to provide an enjoyable way for the entire forum to work together discussing draft prospects and /or current players. This isn’t a game so there are no winners or losers but just a fun way to pass the time.

We ask that you conduct all of your team discussion within the forum.  If you feel that you need to get private to conceal potential targets, what we don’t know won’t hurt us, but understand that this is by design intended to boost discussion within the forum and not an outside source.

  • The NFL Draft beings this Friday, April 3rd at 9:00 AM. (Each pick is given a 40 minute window. 2021 picks are the only future picks that can be traded in FFMD II '20.)
  • The League Workbook, which holds all league and team information, can be accessed via this link: CLICK HERE - FFMD Workbook

As it stands, I am the GM, and @BigC421/ is the AGM. That being said, I've always believed that majority vote should drive FFMD, which means that every decision we make will be posted in this thread for a vote prior to becoming official. In addition, all discussion that we have should be had in here, and not in private messages.

To conceal our interest in draft prospects, we'll use a coded list of all prospects of interest. This has worked well in the past. If you'd like to receive a copy, just ask and either BigC or I will send you one. If you request/receive this list, it's assumed that you are participating, and we will link your forum name when a vote is being held. (It goes without saying, but we ask that this coded list, and information from the coded list, is not shared with anyone outside of our forum.)

All participants are encouraged to seek trades. If you've got something in mind, feel free to post in either this thread or the other team's Front Office with that information. If progress is being made, and you'd like to bring it to the forum for a vote, please do. Note: no decision made will be final until it is put to a forum vote.

I think that covers it. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. FFMD is a great exercise and involves a lot of work by others to run smoothly. We're lucky to have it back so lets enjoy and have fun!

Draft Picks

(Pick #6): Well, if there's one thing that I've learned about the NFL, it's that it's a copycat league. (At least, that's what someone else said.) After alienating and trading away "Rather Large Play" Slay, we entered the draft dead set on drafting his replacement. Okudah is just that guy. (I mean, I hope so. That's what my scouts told me. I trust them... unless he busts. Then they're gone.) We're expecting Okudah to step in across from Trufant and provide this team with a great coverage duo, and, hopefully, enough wins to "look" somewhat competitive. (A few of us want to keep Quinn and Patricia around for another year. It's good to set goals.)

D-0233 JEFFREY "BIG PLAY" OKUDAH CB OHIO STATE

(Pick #14): With the 14th overall pick, we're going to stick with the Bengals' jungle theme, which is perfect for this animal: the Lions trade up using the Chargers' 2nd round pick and select Kinlaw to patrol the Lions' revamped interior defensive line. A truly ferocious player that loves to get his paws on the quarterback, we expect Kinlaw to apply the pressure that the rest of these cubs failed to provide in 2019. With Okudah already welcomed to the pride, the Lions are excited to add another key piece to this revamped defense.

D-0225 JAVON KINLAW DT SOUTH CAROLINA

(Pick #49): Entering the draft, it was imperative that the Lions address the future of the WR position: Golladay is due a hefty raise, while Marvin Jones Jr. and Danny Amendola aren't signed past 2020. Providing Stafford enough weapons to succeed is imperative, hence the recent picks at TE and cap space devoted to the offensive line. Enter: Brandon Aiyuk. We felt that now was the time to make a move for a playmaker such as him, and are hoping he can learn enough from Jones Jr. and Amendola before he becomes one of the top targets during his second season. Although losing both 4th round picks hurt, we still have a mid-3rd round pick to play with.

Lions fans: welcome your newest weapon! (The pictures are only going to get worse from here...)

D-0047 BRANDON AIYUK WR ARIZONA STATE

(Pick #92.) The Lions are excited to add Ben Bredeson to the void that currently exists at OG. Ben Bredeson is excited to bring his unique flair and toned physique from the mountains of Ann Arbor to the jungles of downtown Detroit. (And his monkey. Adorable monkey.)

D-0036 BEN BREDESON OG MICHIGAN

(Pick #149.) I am unprepared for this. Here's a baby lion.

(Pick #185.) With Pick 185, the Detroit Lions' Assistant to the General Manager Sllim Pickens selects Cameron Clark, OG, Charlotte.

For the first order of business: we need to compile a list of draft prospects to form the coded list. If you've got anyone that should be added (including and especially small school or under-the-radar prospects), please make it known. I'm hoping to have the coded list finished tonight.

I would look at bringing both of these guys back on value deals. Daniels should be available for $3 - $4M on a 1 year deal. Wiggins should be had for $1.5 - $2M.

Definitely open to bringing back Mike Daniels on a one year "prove it" deal. I think he'd be a great rotational piece if healthy.
