Chwf3rd's Positional Rankings

Recommended Posts

Preface: I try not to take positional value into account. Thus, I have a bunch of RBs ranked high but that doesn't mean that I would take them over a more valuable position like OT or CB even though the RB grade may be higher. I try to do the same for QBs but positional value still bleeds in given the uniqueness of the position.

QB

1 Joe Burrow, LSU, 6'2/221

Value: Top 5

Great pocket mobility to buy extra time, reads field very well and moves through progressions, very accurate, ability to play out of rhythm, toughness to make throw in face of pressure. Lacks ideal arm talent.

2 Tua Tag, Alabama, 6/217

Great mobility and makes plays out of rhythm. Accurate at all levels of the field with good touch on deep balls. Lacks ideal arm talent.

3 Jordan Love, Utah St, 6'3/224

4 Justin Herbert, Oregon, 6'6/235

Value: Round 2

Ideal physical traits with combo of arm talent and mobility. Very good throwing on the run and flashes some tremendous throws. Had very easy reads at Oregon and isn't great out of rhythm.

2018 film is much better than 2019. Alvin Kamara esque playing style with slippery play and insane lateral cuts. Very explosive and an excelent pass catcher. Quicker than fast and didn't make the same plays in 2019 that he did in 2018.

2 Jonathan Taylor, Wisconsin, 5'10/226, SPARQ: 90%

Value: Top 20

Projects as an elite inside runner. Patient behind the line with great vision and then absolutely explodes through the crease. Great one-cut ability, power, and contact balance. Long speed to break a big run at any time. Not incredibly shifty or creative.

4 JK Dobbins, Ohio St, 5'9/209

Value: Round 1

B+ at everything but no elite, defining trait. Rocked up downhill runner with one-cut explosion. Good contact balance and runs through weak tackles. Doesn't create a lot on his own.

3 Devin Asiasi, UCLA, 6'3/257, 32% SPARQ

Value: Round 3/4

Delanie Walker type of player. Lacks the size and physicality of some of the other TEs and projects as more of finesse TE. Really fluid and smooth out of his breaks. Stems routes very well and creates easy separation. YAC ability and solid blocker. Lacks the big boy, physical catches that you'll see bigger TEs make.

4 Brycen Hopkins, Purdue, 6'4/245, 51% SPARQ

Value: Day 3

4.97 40 is hard to recover from. Solid blocker, tough runner with ball, poor ball tracking, athletic limitations make it hard for him to separate, great hands to come down with ball in traffic, no wiggle. Maybe the best hands of the TEs.

2 K'Lavon Chaisson, LSU, 6'3/254

Value: Round 1/2

Flash player with little pass rushing production. Flashes show elite pass rushing potential - great burst, bend, and speed to power. Lacks polish as pass rusher but represents a big question mark. However, floor is raised by his ability to play as a standup SAM LB with pass rushing ability.

3 Yetur Gross Matos, Penn St, 6'5/266

Value: Round 1/2

Perfect 43 DE build. Really good burst to win with speed rush and decent bull rush. Great length. Good hand usage and uses a rip and dip move frequently. Offers good edge setting ability vs the run right now. Inconsistent and not as disruptive as desired on film.

4 AJ Epenesa, Edge/DL, Iowa, 6'6/275, SPARQ: 15%

Value: Round 1/2

Power rusher with great bull rush and hand usage. Great hand usage with long arm move and hand swipes. Very stout vs the run. Can line up all over and very disruptive when lined up inside. Combine performance really hurt him and may need to put on weight on passing downs.

2 Derrick Brown, Auburn, 6'5/326, SPARQ: 33%

Value: Top 20

Difficult to block with a single blocker. Beats up guy in front of him with pure strength and power rather than pure burst. Dominant vs the run and bench presses OL. Doesnt project as a very productive pass rusher and questions about whether he can win with pure strength/power in the NFL.

Value: Round 2

Awesome get off and burst to create immediate disruption. Has a spin move and swim move in his arsenal. Power to win with a bull rush. Awesome motor and never gives up on a play. Older prospect (23) and still lacks refinement. Plays out of control and struggles when his first move is blocked.

Value: Top 10

Ability to play OLB, slot CB, SS, and single high FS. Covers a ton of ground, reliable tackler, and legit ability as slot CB and deep safety. Teams should want him playing in space and chasing the ball. Lacks desired aggressiveness for a traditional LB.

Value: Round 2

Flashes Top 20 traits. Athletic testing translates as he's all over the field with sideline to sideline range. Awesome burst to fill gaps and has the size and physicality to stand up blockers. Angles are off at times and can be late on his reads. Very limited tape available and low floor player.

6 Jordyn Brooks, Texas Tech, 6/240

Awesome run stuffing LB with size and power. Surprising athletic testing but looked like a liability in space.

9 Evan Weaver, Cal, 6'2/237, SPARQ: 26%

Value: Round 4

Tough guy and reliable tackler who is always around the ball. Tons of tackling production, good in the box, and decent zone awareness. Significant physical limitations.

10 Akeem Davis-Gaither, Applachian St, 6'1/224

Value: Round 4

Fred Warner comp. Looks like a safety and projects as WILL. Speedy and explosive and does a good job ducking under tackles. Lacks desired physicality and will struggle dealing with blockers when he can't duck under.

CB

1 Jeff Okudah, Ohio St, 6'1/205, SPARQ: 99%

Value: Top 5

Checks every box as a CB prospect. Smooth hips to mirror in man, intelligence and awareness to read QBs eyes, physicality to match bigger WRs, good ball skills, and physical in run game.

2 CJ Henderson, Florida, 6'1/204, SPARQ: 95%

Value: Top 10

Rare blend of size, speed, and fluidity. Incredible ability to mirror in man coverage with quick feet, smooth hips, closing speed, and long speed. Great at separating the ball from the WR and closing the gap quickly. Awful tackler and lacks preferred ball production.

3 Kristin Fulton, LSU, 6/197, SPARQ: 69%

Value: Round 1/2

Sticky man coverage and stays in WR's back pocket. Good closing burst off ball and plays with physicality. Inconsistent at catch point and not especially fluid or fast.

4 Jeff Gladney, TCU, 5'10/191, SPARQ: 47%

Value: Round 1/2

Incredibly physical and feisty - great effort vs 6'6 Collin Johnson. Good closing burst and very quick feet. Great vs the run and phenomenal at the catch point. Not incredibly fluid and lacks desired physical traits.

5 Trevon Diggs, Alabama, 6'1/205

Value: Round 2

Ideal combo of size and speed. Awesome ball skills as a former WR. Good closing burst in zone and sticky man coverage. Not especially physical and isn't comfortable with his back to the ball. May be best in zone scheme.

6 Noah Igbonohue, Auburn, 5'10/198, SPARQ: 66%

Value: Round 2

Twitched up player with quick feet and explosion. Physical player and willing tackler. Incredibly sticky in man coverage and allows little separation. Really struggles when the ball is in the air and lacks ball production.

7 AJ Terrell, Clemson, 6'1/195, SPARQ: 86%

Value: Round 2

Ideal combination of athleticism and size. Quick feet and sticky in man coverage. Willing tackler. Has some fluidity issues and can be overly grabby.

8 Reggie Robinson, Tulsa, 6'1/205, SPARQ: 92%

Value: Round 2/3

Incredibly sticky in man coverage with quick feet and twitch to mirror. Physical boundary CB that uses sideline to advantage. Comes up with physicality vs runs and screens. Way too grabby and may be a flag magnet.

8 Damon Arnette, Ohio St, 6/195

Value: Round 3

Very physical CB with good closing burst and press. Speed is a concern and lacks great fluidity.

9 Amik Robertson, Louisiana Tech, 5'8/187

Value: Round 3

Tiny, feisty slot CB with great ball skills and sticky man coverage.

10 Jaylon Johnson, Utah, 6/193, SPARQ: 64%

Value: Round 3/4

Press man CB. Physical CB with good press but tight hipped and lacking ideal recovery speed.

S

1 Antoine Winfield, Minnesotta, 5'9/203, SPARQ: 82%

Value: Round 1

Versatility to line up in the box or deep as single high. Intelligent high IQ player with great ball skills. Thick build with physicality and violence. Deal with blockers extremely well and all over the field with quick reactions and burst.

2 Grant Delpit, LSU, 6'2/213

Value: Round 1/2

Twitchy athlete with awesome burst and range as single high FS. Versatile and can line up all over the field. Capable of big hits but very unreliable tackler with inconsistent angles and poor form.

3 K'Von Wallace, Clemson, 5'11/206, SPARQ: 97%

Value: Round 1/2

Very versatile and can play all over including slot CB. Extremely twitched up with awesome closing burst. Great ball skills and is always looking for the ball in coverage. Physical tackler with an attitude and tenacity. Reacts decisively on his reads. Hips can be a little stiff at times and not the most reliable tackler in space.

4 Kyle Dugger, S, Lenoir-Rhyne, 6'1/218, SPARQ: 99%

Value: Round 2

The most explosive player I've watched this year. Absolutely dominated lower competition. Explosive and powerful player that plays with violence. All over the field and filled up the stat sheet. The opposition looked like traffic cones that he would just run over. Older prospect (24) with some rawness. Hips look a little stiff and angles/reactions are a little off. May be best suited in a WLB role where he can run and chase.

5 Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama, 6/201, SPARQ: 20%

Value: Round 2

Very solid all around and versatile safety that should be a long term starter but lacks big upside. Comes downhill in a hurry with good closing burst. Used in the box and deep as single high FS and did well in each role. Questionable tackling at times and didn't make a lot of game changing plays.

6 Ashytn Davis, S, Cal, 6'1/202

Value: Round 2

Hyper aggressive rangy centerfielder. Desired physicality is missing and inconsistent tackler.

7 Jeremy Chinn, Southern Illinois, 6'3/221, SPARQ: 99%

Value: Round 2/3

Incredibly explosive and rocked up athlete. Covers a ton of ground and hits like a ton of bricks. Would have liked to see more playmaking and reactions are a touch slow. Maybe projects as a WLB/S type.

8 Geno Stone, Iowa, 5'10/207, SPARQ: 26%

Value: Round 3

High IQ player with great ball skills but lacks preferred athleticism.

9 Julian Blackmon, Utah, 6/187

Value: Round 3/4

Centerfielder FS with good range, explosion, and reliable tackling. USC game is very bad.

10 JR Reed, Georgia, 6'1/202, SPARQ: 66%

Value: Round 4

Explosive athlete that covers a ton of ground and plays with aggression. Lacks great range as single high and overpursues at times

Value: Round 4

12 Antoine Brooks, Maryland, 5'11/220, SPARQ: 34%

Value: Round 4/5
