Camden Gameplan:

Offense

This week versus Cuba we realize our backs are against the wall so we're going to come out aggressive. We're going to use the run game early to set up Brees and some play action to his weapons on the outside. Here are the ways we'll do it.

Sweeps, Counters, off tackle runs- We want to use a lot of this style running early in the game to get the defensive line moving side to side. For what my line may lack in other areas, it's an athletic group so let's get them in space. Freeman and Johnson both excel in the zone style of following the flow of the line, and then cutting back if any opportunity arises so these types of runs should get a good precedent early in the game.

Don't shy away from Sherman- This may sound crazy, but no matter who we match up on Sherman on the outside we think we have an advantage. Sherman looks like he has lost a step, and even last year when Evans and Sherman went head to head Evans made it look easy. With Beckham getting back to full strength we're confident he can run away from Sherman as well. Sherman is an aggressive corner, so double moves, and especially the playaction after establishing the run will be key here.

Mix up looks- Like last week we want to mix things up, moving Beckham and Evans around. Also bringing out our big slot packages with Engram/Njoku flexed out, and getting Duke Johnson and Devonta Freeman going in the passing game as well (for you, Ted) to keep Cuba's defense from settling in.

Defense

Cuba has a lot of firepower on the outside. All three guys, Julio especially, thrive on the big play. This week we'll deploy a different coverage scheme to try and deter those big bodies from getting down field on us.

Cover 3 zone- We'll play a lot of today in a cover 3 zone. This way we can have the main area of the field that Jones, Pryor and Benjamin do they damage covered up. If we can limit these guys to smaller chunk plays, we'll consider that a win. Our LB's/nickel CB and a safety cover the intermediate portions of the field cut into 4th's to eliminate the TE's work area and any RB's routes in the flat.

This style of defense allows us work in zone blitzes to confuse Kirk Cousins. We know our defensive line is very good, so even with Cuba's strong line, we'll get to him from time to time. But when we can't get home, he'll still be pressured, and if we can pressure him and then confuse him with zone blitzes on top of that we can force him into some bad plays and bad decisions and derail this offense.

Strongside LB blitz- Today we'll have Barr and Bowser as our LB for good chunks of the afternoon. The advantage to both is they've spent plenty of time covering in space, but are also they're most comfortable rushing the QB. We'll be running lots of blitzes where one of these two get after Cousins and a DE drops back into a passing lane.

Safety blitz- Like our LB's, both of our safeties are comfortable around the LOS. So no matter who is dropped down near the line in the SS role (mostly Adams) will be coming off the edge while a DE kicks back into a passing lane.

We think mixing these new wrinkles into our pass defense, combined with our already strong run defense should be a huge boost against Cuba. We think we can keep Cook bottled up without getting too fancy and the cover 3 scheme is especially strong against screen passes, where Cook has strong skills.

Cuba Smugglers:

ntro: We got blown out the last time we played Camden. Regardless of record we have a significant amount of respect for their owner. It is in our best interest to play this team up to their talent level and not their record.

Offense

We have avoided injuries thus far, meaning our offense has multiple ways to get the ball downfield. Kirk Cousins still has Kelvin Benjamin, Jamison Crowder, and Jack Doyle available if Julio is shadowed by Aqib Talib. In that event, Julio will run most of his routes at the X position. We will take a few chances with no safety help. Otherwise, Julio is the feature receiver. Talib is as good as any in ISO so we have a respect factor regarding his ability. The rest of Camden's defense is liable to some big plays. Kevin Johnson is injured and we want Benjamin to take advantage of this. Hargreaves looks to have made a strong improvement in year two. He still carries a significant slight disadvantage against Kelvin Benjamin or Terrelle Pryor. Because the safety help we expect him to receive we will let Jamison Crowder and Jack Doyle test the middle of this defense. Their ability to get open in single coverage should force Kevin Byard into having deep patrol. To combat, Dalvin Cook is blocked by a strong front to open holes against a strong defensive line. Upfront we will rotate Berger and Wood at the center position. We will let Tevin Coleman and Frank Gore get more run as receiving backs because their ability to get open against Jake Ryan/Anthony Barr is a realistic proposition. Kirk Cousins will have the responsibility of getting the ball out quickly and taking shots deep after we establish an even balance of run and pass.

Gameplan: Short passes to establish the run, attack Anthony Barr in coverage, run at Jake Ryan. Allow Cousins to get rhythm off play action. Test Hargreaves with the big receivers.

Defense

Drew Brees leading an offense means you have to be prepared for a strong passing attack. Freeman poses as a legitimate option in the run and passing game. The LBs and the safeties will key on his game to minimize his overall impact. In the secondary we recognize the two star receivers and their impact on a game. Desmond Trufant will have the most shadow responsibility with Odell Beckham Jr. In their previous outing a healthy Beckham posted 116 yards and a TD. None of his statistics came against Trufant. Because the star receiver is slightly hampered we are going to let Trufant handle that battle by himself. Similarly for Mike Evans, Richard Sherman will cover him most of the game. We don't mind allowing Sherman to play boundary more than Evans because we want to give whomever covers Evans safety help. Lardarius Webb and LaMarcus Joyner each take some turns playing over top. Because Evans is the most helped guy there may some reps where Sherman covers a TE on the boundary. Anthony Brown and Johnathan Joseph are reliable enough to win the battles on the outside if they face in Njoku/Engram/Richardson/Miller as he will be aided by safety help more often than not.

We've addressed the strong aspect of Camdens offense. If there is a liability it is in the trenches. Tyron Smith hasn't quite been himself this year and he is their best player on the line. Ronald Leary will get most of his reps against Fletcher Cox or Mario Edwards, and both guys have played quality football to this point. After those two, there are some holes to exploit. Starting with Wesley Johnson and Xavier Su'a Filo, Calais Campbell and Derek Wolfe will have some easy matchups to take advantage of. We realize how teams are planning to run at Dee Ford and moved him to LOLB against La'El Collins. The matchups presented on this side are our best chances to get Brees to rush his passes, and force Camden to keep one of Engram/Njoku/Freeman as blockers. With this added advantage, a safety on Evans, Beckham against Trufant we think we can significantly slow this offense down.

Gameplan

Enforce and reinforce our defensive line advantages throughout the game. Trufant shadows Beckham Jr. Double cover Mike Evans. Occasional 2 man under gives two receivers double coverage. Limit Devonta Freeman/Duke Johnson as receivers out the backfield.

Dalvin had 72 yards receiving and 170 total this week. I'll take his chances.

Shame you highlighted Gore and Coleman as your pass catching backs.

Cool game plan to rotate centers during the game too....

I incorporated an idea to get my best players on the field. It's a good idea.

If you are going to rotate an online spot I would think center would be the last one you should do it at for snapping, rhythm, line call protection purposes

I disagree because two veterans are playing a position with quality experience.
