otg
Would the draft order the following year be the same as that of the last played season? Would there be some kind of lottery? Is there any kind of historical precedent for this?
BleedTheClock
I would think they would do it based on some sort of lottery. Like the NBA, where the Bengals would have the best odds or something like that.
NJerseypaint
Imagine having Burrow and Lawrence - amazing. I'd assume they'd just suspend everything at that point - contracts, trades, draft, etc.
Forge
My question also becomes, what happens with the supplemental draft? I have to imagine a lot of ncaa athletes, if it looks like the season is going to be canceled, would like to just go ahead and declare for the supplemental at that point in time. I was thinking about that too. Could be an unprecedented supplemental draft.

Why would you possibly have 1 of these guys on the bench. Waste of a pick if you already have 1 of them

You joke, but it would be entertaining if they played out the season as an escort. 2 different starters from the team play co-op that week versus another team's co-op team. Play out the whole season and every game that way, all the way to the Super Bowl (and thus your draft order is decided). It might actually help with player recognition, marketability, and drawing in non-traditional fans.

My guess would be if the pro level misses a season so will the college level, may have to keep it on a freeze but the way things are sounding is that both pro and college will be playing next year. 99% of ADs at the college level said there will be a season 75% of them think it will be a shortened season. This is also similar take at the pro level that a season will be played but shortened.
August4th
this is what the NHL did after they lost a season due to a lockout Quote The lottery was held on 22 July, the same day that the new CBA was approved. The top-rated prospect in this draft was Sidney Crosby, and it was widely assumed that he would be the first overall pick by whichever team won the lottery, so it became known colloquially as the 'Sidney Crosby Sweepstakes'.[2][3] Teams were weighted based on playoff appearances in the last three completed seasons (2001-02, 02-03 and 03-04), and first overall picks in the last four drafts (2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004). Three lottery balls each were assigned to teams which had not qualified for any of those playoffs and received no first overall picks in that period. Teams which had one playoff appearance or first overall pick in those years were given two lottery balls. All other teams received one lottery ball

Ty21
That draft would be a train wreck. Taking players based on how they looked as juniors
