Well that's just downright false with 27 to the skins and 30 to the Ravens. What?

I know Mack closed out a lot of games for us when he was here and we all loved him for it, but there's a big difference between sealing a 31-30 type game and being a good defense. If they were respectable, they wouldn't give up 30 to begin with.

I give you the redskins I admit I couldn’t finish the 4th qtr lol cause carr was so dam garbage in that game but I do see we lost 27-10. my bad about wash 6 fourth qtr points you’re right.

don’t think carr played vs Ravens So I didn’t count that one

A respectable defense imo is keeping the score close until your qb/offense decides to make some plays and stop turning the ball over. Defense cause 2-3 fumbles that wash game. Carr had 2 ints. 14-0 at halftime 21-7 end of the 3rd. Imo that’s respectable. anything better would imo be categorized as a good defense

I was not happy watching the defense ranking close to last in points scored but some if not a lot of that came from the offense not sustaining drives and being able to score in the 2nd half.  Also the game against Washington, only one I have watched in a while, Carr might not have lost it all by himself but he should shoulder a lot of the blame.  I will have to watch more games but Carr on average has not played up to what you expect out of a professional QB.

You could tell carr was scared in the pocket I rewatched that game especially cause of “politics” I remember rumors about the oline gave up on carr cause of political stuff. First sack was a fluke the de fell and penn fell on the de then carr ran into the pile. After the first int carr was done imo.

he finished the game with 30+ pass attempts and 120-130 yards 1 td and 2ints. That’s not respectable or acceptable for a franchise qb imo. Iirc that td was set up by a defensive t/o also

We had under 100 yards before it turned into garbage time.  I am not saying that is who he was every game but that is when his career started looking bad on a regular basis.  He has steadily improved but it has not been enough for me.  I can only cheer for my QB and if that is who they believe should be starting then that is my guy.  I personally would do something different though.

Exactly then kc week 7 happens and you fall in love again. it’s like he decides when he wants to be a stud. buts it’s too far and few between

carrs low ints/fumbles help the defense but the lack of scoring/sustaining drives Doesn’t.

Can you really blame a average respectable defense going into halftime 14-0?

Vs lightweight prime cousins. that’s another story also cause carr and cousins are very similar imo

Both of those 1st half TDs came after Carr's 2 ints.

interesting stats especially “time to throw “

The most interesting is..

Average completed air yards - Was among the lowest of all QB's because we know he is dump off king.

Aggressiveness % - Again among the lowest because he doesn't thread the needle or throw guy's open downfield.

Air yards to the sticks -2.3 - One of the worst, because we've all watched him throw short of the stick on many occasions especially on 3rd downs.

Yea sometimes defense can’t even get a 3 and out

This is true so I do not put everything at the feet of Carr and like I said I think he is getting better.  I would just like to see more because I can see he is capable of more.

Yeah that can be said about every offense and QB ever though. Picking out a game here and there is not helpful.  It would also be the same reasoning if I blamed the defense for not setting up the offense with turnovers and short fields all the time.  Turnovers are going to happen from both sides of the ball and we all know the importance. I choose not to give the defense a break for giving up scores on short fields and I don't give the offense more credit for scoring on short fields. They get credit and blame equally in my book because it is part of football, it just is.

I'd feel differently about one side of the ball if it was constantly at fault.  That's definitely not the case with our offense.  Now our defense comes very close to being worthless in that department some seasons though.  Since 2014 we've had two seasons that the defense had more than 17 turnovers in a season, 2015 (25) & 2016 (30). The other four seasons they are bottom 5 in takeaways.  The offense gave the ball away the most in 2014(29) & 2017(28).  Everyone seems to give credit to that 2016 defense for the +16 turnover margin, but they always seem to leave out that the offense only gave it away 14 times.

My point remains that it's a balance needed from both sides of the ball. Give and take if you will ;)

I do say it’s almost a guaranteed score For the other team when our offense turns the ball over Before even reaching third down. At least give the defense 3 downs and a punt to rest.

i give carr his props when he does well but I will also point out when he craps his diaper

Imo defense job is to stop the other teams offense from scoring points. If they get a turnover even better. I wish forcing a offense to punt counted as a defensive stat like a turnover imo they should.

That’s why I like being a coach. I’m celebrating my defense forcing a punt just as much as a int or fumble recovery.

example: vs wash defense forced 2 t/O’s and 5 punts. 7 times the defense gave the ball back to the offense and we could only produce 10 points all game.

offense job is to score points imo And if they can control the t.o.p. Even better.

Logan Ryan has some interesting remarks about Mariota and how he was “killing” them as the scout team QB.

As a QB he intrigues me so much because the ability he showed at Oregon. Sucks that he Won’t get those mini camp reps or OTAs to have a real chance.
