The QB Thread: Everything Carr, Stidham and beyond...

Any Coach/GM that comes in and ties their fate to Derek Carr deserves the fate that awaits them. There is 9 years of data that shows that Carr is a really good QB when the stakes are low (outside of the Red Zone, meaningless games, non-prime time games, etc.) and below average when the stakes are high. If McZiegler want to continue down this path then they are sealing their own fate.

There will be an extremely tight window to make a decision on Carr at season’s end and Ziegler has shown to be willing to make big moves to either get the players he wants or rid the team of players he doesn’t want. Here’s to hoping he makes the bold decision to move out from under the Carr cloud and give this franchise a much needed fresh start with somebody else under Center.

There are only two QB's with 50+ attempts/under 50% comp in the red zone.

Lamar Jackson (46%)

Derek Carr (38%)

Carr is the only starting QB in the NFL with under a 40% comp in the red zone. He has less passing TDs in the red zone than Andy Dalton, Jacoby Brissett, and Matt Ryan. And the same number of passing TDs in the RZ as Justin Fields and Davis Mills.

But you said Lamar is GOAT and Jalen Hurts was garbage.....

Sounds an awful lot like "Derek Carr is 27.5297²% when his LG passes wind at the word 'down' and his RT begins to prairie dog in the 3 point stance" level of trying to fit statistics into a narrative.

Checked down on third and long in the red zone. Same story different game

He’s been doing that since the 2016 season. Check Down or throw it out of bounds on 3rd down. I guess his Alternative was throwing a soft floater into the defense Hands

Carr defenders will always blame defense and coaching for 9 years and never admit Carr is one of the BIGGEST problems. Your QB doesn’t go 134 yards 0 TD’s and 2 INT’s against a middle of the pack defense, regardless of coaching. And has one of the best RB’s and WR’s in the NFL. Carr is meh at best, non Raider fans have known this for years. He is so limited, especially mentally.

It’s been a while since I have insulted Carr because people here get sooooo offended. Well, oh well. Carrbage has worn out his welcome here.

For 9 years he has been one of the most abysmal QB’s in the redzone over and over and over. Across five Head Coaches.

If you look at allotted time, Carr is the biggest problem in the redzone by far. Not the coaches.

It’s Mark Davis. Carr is not a starter this long on ANY of the 31 other NFL Franchises. He likely picked McDaniels since Josh probably hyped up Carr the most out of any other Head Coach candidate, due to scheme fit. Davis has a hard-on for Carr and he knows nothing about football.

The only coach that was ever hard on Carr and didn’t baby him was Del Rio in 2017. If you read all the reports, and press conferences, etc, he held Carr accountable for a lot, and Carr needs to be held accountable. It cost him his job. Every other coach has babied Carr every step of the way not to anger Mark.  Even Gruden who went completely soft with age. Gruden has always been a players coach but he use to absolutely grill you if you messed up or suck, he was way too soft on the players in his second coaching go around.

Davis just keeps picking coaches he thinks won’t hold Carr accountable, and promised him he is the QB.

I also said that Josh Jacobs is the greatest RB in the history of this franchise and I'm correct.
