RJ_11
OLB Trevis Gipson Tulsa Height: 6'3" Weight: 261lb 2019 stats: Tack: 49 | Sacks: 8.0 | FF: 2 What the Draft analysts say (via NFL.com): Quote Overview He's quite raw and in the dead center of his developmental phase, but it's hard not to get excited by the traits and flashes. Gipson was a late bloomer so he is still a little behind in his fundamentals and technique. He doesn't have go-to moves and counters, but the rush is real with a long, explosive first step and the athleticism and length to win the edge and harass the pocket. He needs better hand usage and lower body strength to handle himself at the point of attack, but he is a rangy tackler. Gipson isn't NFL-ready yet, but he's a potential diamond in the rough as a long-limbed defensive end in odd or even fronts. Strengths Added nearly 60 pounds at Tulsa and got better each year Emulates brother, who was a big, rugged forward at Kansas State First step is long and explosive Long-limbed frame can overwhelm lesser blockers Flexible and athletic to wriggle around pass pro Has tools for dangerous stab-and-run bull rush Chip on shoulder matches passion in his play Longest lateral slide you'll ever see Able to stride through gap, leaving tackles behind When he activates hands, they are quite violent Reactive agility helps him track and tackle in space Weaknesses Talented, but still very raw Plays at full speed but technique is behind Inefficient movement with arms and legs flying all over Locks into battle and loses sight of the ball Needs to punch and separate more consistently Not enough sand in his pants at point of attack just yet Lacks game plan and finesse as a pass rusher Counter-rush instincts are underdeveloped High-cut with predictable balance concerns when redirected by power Hasn't learned to batter the edge with hand skills Edited April 25, 2020 by RJ_11
beardown3231
They traded their 4th rounder next year I have no opinion except why the **** is Pace allergic to drafting OL?
JAF-N72EX
I'm never against using picks on a pass rusher but I feel like we have more important needs.
CBears019
At least they still have their other 5th round picks.
CBears019
Seems like decent value here? I'm not mad...it's the fifth round.
RJ_11
So is he an edge or a DE in our system? Everything looking like edge but his NFL.com comparison is actually Robertson-Harris.
Madmike90
This dude is so raw...all arms and legs...very awkward and tough for linemen to get a proper punch on him...with development and used properly he could be a really solid development piece.

He will stand up for us or play with his hand down in nickle...he is all forward momentum and will rush the passer...Mingo will be more of the coverage OLB. Gotcha, happy to pick up another rusher, especially keeping all our picks today still. This does seem like solid value from what people are saying early too. Sugashane
I liked him, had no idea he was even still available. I'm always for adding EDGE talent. He has passrusher potential.
AZBearsFan
Like this pickup. High upside prospect at a position where we had zero of that behind our starters. The explosiveness you see on that tape can’t be taught, and he has pretty ideal size.
SLCbear
What's not to like here? He will be exceptional v the run right away, he has the skill and tools to develop into a monster pass rusher
