For a developmental/traits guy you’re buying the immediate development time too - you’re paying a future 4 banking that by the time the future pick comes up the selected player is more valuable or at least as valuable than the surrendered pick with some value gained along the way. Only time will tell how that works out. Letting a high upside traits guy like Gipson work technique with two established high end edge rushers who aren’t at any risk of losing their starting spots to the rookie holds a lot of value to me.
