He moved from quarterback to receiver during preseason practices his true freshman season and wound up starting six of 11 games played that year (14 receptions, 149 yards, 10.6 average; seven carries, 15 yards, 2.1 ypc). Jennings started nine games as a sophomore, collecting 40 passes for 580 yards and seven scores in 13 appearances. His 2017 season at Rocky Top was a bit rocky, as he suffered a wrist injury in the opener after catching three passes for 17 yards. He did not end up playing the rest of the year, though he went to social media to rip coaches for not putting him back on the field late in the season. Interim head coach Brady Hoke dismissed him from the team after that incident, but the new coaching staff brought him back in the spring of 2018 (though a knee injury kept him from practicing). Jennings returned to the starting lineup for five games in 2018 (30 receptions, 438 yards, 14.6 average, three touchdowns in 12 contests). He suffered a knee injury in the summer of 2019, but managed to play all 13 games for the Volunteers as a senior, leading the team in receiving (59 receptions, 969 yards, 16.4 average, eight touchdowns; 13 carries, 51 yards, 3.9 ypc, one touchdown). Analysis By Lance Zierlein NFL Analyst Draft Projection Priority free agent Overview Big slot target with size, savvy and toughness, but lacking in functional speed and general quickness. Jennings can be clever in stemming and tilting coverage enough to open throwing windows, but getting away from press coverage is going to be difficult for him. What he can't do may keep him from being drafted, but competitiveness at the catch point, with the ball in his hands, and as a blocker should get him into camp and give him an outside shot as a big, possession slot. Strengths Big and strong Shows some savvy in getting open against off coverage Plays to his size at catch-point Quick hands to pluck tall throws and balls behind him Unusually powerful tackle breaker Contact balance and determination requires multiple tacklers Efficient and consistent tracking and adjusting to throws High percentage of catches moved the chains Size and aggression to look up and lock up as run blocker Weaknesses Doesn't run well and will not threaten vertically Unlikely to be considered as outside target Hip tightness is a limiting factor Restricted stride length in open field Can't sink and get in and out of breaks quickly Unable to wiggle and elude press Takes punishment from punchers denying his lift-off GRADE 8.0 The perfect prospect 7.3-7.5 Perennial All-Pro 7.0-7.1 Pro Bowl talent 6.7-6.8 Year 1 quality starter 6.5 Boom or bust prospect 6.3-6.4 Will be starter within first two seasons 6.1-6.2 Good backup who could become starter 6.0 Developmental traits-based prospect 5.8-5.9 Backup/special-teamer 5.5-5.6 Chance to make end of roster or practice squad 5.4 Priority free agent 5.0-5.1 Chance to be in an NFL training camp NO GRADE Likely needs time in developmental league This is from the NFL website if you haven't already read it. Apologies for the extra stuff that's irrelevant to him.
uk9erfan
This might make better reading about him. https://utsports.com/sports/football/roster/jauan-jennings/10212#sidearm-roster-player-bio Either way I'm intrigued to say the least. Forge
Generally speaking, I'm not all in on the sparq and ras scores...I think that they have their uses, and I would prefer to take chances on high physical trait guys of course, however they aren't a lock or anythign like that, of course. But I have to say, his RAS score is one of the worst I have ever seen lol

There were only a handful of teams JJ would have gone to where he could have succeeded. Pretty much any of the Shannahan/McVay offenses where being the fastest guy on the field isn't as important a factor. Once he's got the ball, anything can happen. He'll be a guy that plays faster than he runs the forty. This is from the draft steal thread seems like everyone is higher on him then us lol

Melbourne 9er
So he can't run, can't jump and is serially injured. Thanks Baalke.
757-NINER
Honestly, I think he was drafted to play STs. Like seriously.....
Chrissooner49er
The biggest issue I have with this kid is he is too much like my 12 year old students: doesn't think before he acts. Not interested at all. If he gets his act together, great. But Rueben Foster is a memory that stings...

The guy is a beast with the ball in his hands physically, but he just seems slow and will have issues separating. I mean, If this guy was 6'5 and he was putting up these numbers (Stats and workout numbers), I could see the appeal, but 6'3 with these numbers doesnt necessarily scream BOOM prospect. But I will remain optimistic
