J_E_T_$
Trent Williams went for a 5th this draft and a 3rd next year........... had we been able to get him for that, we could have got a top WR in the first and changed the whole draft.............. xrade
And an old LT that is injury prone and has not played in two years. I prefer the course we took. That is how to build a team, not with old expensive players. We have gone down that path for a long time and it not work.
DowNY
It’ll make sense if the money we saved on not acquiring him goes to Jamal.
NewAge
Don’t think the Jets are in a position to be mortgaging considerable draft and financial resources for a 32 year old.

Agree with others posts. On top of that, I don't think that trade was available pre-draft or during the 1st round. Think Skins price dropped after the 1st day. rickyt31
I love Trent, but we made the right move. We still came away with a potential franchise LT and WR.
Heymangold
i'm glad they passed on williams. don't want to trade draft capital and a large chunk of cap for a guy who is older, hasn't played in what, 2 years?
ekill08x
This move never once for a split second made sense for us. Even if he was a free agent, not for the money he wants.

GangGreen420
We really need to stop clamoring for “names” and stop and think if that name actually makes sense for the Jets
NYJets4716
Trading for Trent Williams was a Jets move tbh. Hes 32 years old, on the backside of his career and missed a entire season and has had injury concerns. We always added stars at the end of their careers. Drafting a LT was the right move, get someone who can anchor the line for the next decade. Plus Becton is gonna be cheap for the next 4-5 years. Trent is gonna cost $20 mil per year at least. We are in a financial position where we should be able to lock up Jamal Adams to a large contract, pay our star that we drafted. I believe the JEts want to sign Adams long term, all the trade rumors was media and fan driven, not actually what the teams wants cause he would be traded already if that was the case. We don't even have a Adams replacement, he does things that are unique and makes our defense better when hes out there. Davis is a center fielder, someone who could replace Maye. But he can't do what Adams does. Adams is a special player and yes he likes to talk, but we knew that when he was drafted, the dude has always been the kind of guy who speaks his mind and is vocal. If he wanted off the team he would have formally requested a trade. Our secondary looks far weaker without Adams, hes the star out there. I like how Douglas went different routes for CBs, hes building this team the right way finally. Spending huge on average CBs is a Jets move that we are finally not doing. Old Jets would go sign Byron Jones or James Bradberry. Smart teams find starting CBs in mid rounds or from other teams where a player might not have fit a scheme. Scheme fits at CB is most important. Wilson is interesting cause hes a scheme fit. Edited April 30, 2020 by NYJets4716
