We gave up 0.9 points more per game

We lost Hicks, Trevathan, Long, etc

I'm talking about ppg against and turnovers forced. Check and check.

I know who they lost, but comparatively, they were the healthiest team in the league. They had 26 players injured which was #1 in the NFL. Of course the Packers were the 29th healthiest and still finished 13-3, so you never know what could happen, but the assumption is if they were 8-8 as the healthiest & aren't the healthiest again, they could be in trouble.

They also played against the hardest offensive schedule in the league.

They were historically great in 2018 only "got worse" based on the high bar they set for themselves. Expecting them to do it again in consecutive years is unrealistic.

There is more to defense than that.

Not all injuries are equal.

It was pure.

This year we are a better zoom team than other teams.

So, we've got that goin' for us.

Which is nice.

I agree with this. I think we already saw the defense's regression and we'll see a similar performance in 2020 with a small bounce-back possible.

Similar to 2018 or 19?

2019

2018’s performance stacked up with the best defenses of this era and was driven by a lot of turnover and injury luck. The impact of the 2019 unit is far more repeatable as the baseline for a good defense.
