He actually had the chance to start and went 500 on TD/INTs for half a season. If he was Washington's future, he would have done much better in that time span. That's plenty of time to prove himself. He doesn't have it. Andy Dalton to Washington makes sense. You might be right. He didn't light the world on fire. But I'll give a rookie on the 2nd worst team in the NFL another shot. In his actual starts he went 7/3 TD to INT. The other 4 INTs where he went in as a back up.

That's not nearly big enough a sample size to write off a FRP, and it's especially not enough for a QB (who's NFL learning curve is notoriously more difficult than any other position).
Elky
Haskins looked like a functional QB in the final quarter of the season. Rookie QBs make mistakes. You learn to rollerskate by falling down and getting back up. Replacing them with a retread like Dalton only hinders progression. INbengalfan
New England or Jax if they want him to start. Dallas as a backup and insurance if Dak's negotiations go awry
Silver
Can New England een fit him under their cap. I was under the impression they are strapped.
sshle_
Dalton's mind says Pats, but his heart says Jags.
rfournier103
As a Patriots fan, I love Dalton over Hoyer all day long. What if Stidham isn’t ready? Are we just going to hand the keys to Hoyer? That’s madness. Andy Dalton deserved much better than what he got in Cincinnati. If he had any kind of team around him, and if they had any kind of coaching around them, Dalton would have at least found his way into an AFC Championship Game appearance. He would automatically be the best quarterback in the AFC East by default, and the transition of the Patriots’ quarterback situation would be all the more gradual. SkippyX
The best place for Dalton or Newton is New England. The problem would be Belichick actually wanting either of them. Following Brady would be minimized for both guys since their reps are already in the toilet at the moment. It would be a tough situation to throw Stidham out there for 16 games while Brady lights it up in Tampa.

Would easily take the Patriots route. Opportunity to potentially start right away. A franchise that has proven to always be in contention to compete for the playoffs year in and year out under BB. That’s the optimal path for sure.
wackywabbit
Haven't seen it thrown out yet, but Denver's QB depth chart says: Drew Lock, Jeff Driskel, Brett Rypien, Riley Neal. How much are they truly willing to ride or die with Lock, let alone those backups.
