Our alley edge defenders were the biggest problems with the team last year, not the linebackers. We were gashed off tackle, not between them. That said, I have a feeling Phillips starts as a rookie and is a surprise hit. Eh, that contract is enormous iirc

DizzyDean
2 hours ago, BleedTheClock said: Yeah but I don't really think we have a gaping hole at linebacker. Between 1. Mack Wilson 2. BJ Goodson 3. Sione Takitaki 4. Jacob Phillips , I'm willing to bet we can pull down 3 competent starters. I think those players are adequate for being successful at linebacker this year. Would I look to add another LB via FA or trade? Absolutely, as I don't see an impact player amongst the bunch. But I also don't think we'll be kicking ourselves for not upgrading linebacker the way we were for not upgrading the OL last season. That is a Mid round rookie, a 2nd year player that hardly saw the field, a role player for another team, and a 2nd year player that had ups and downs last year. There is no comfort zone here. Alexander for the win!
buno67
I like this move now that it could take some pressure off of OBJ and Jarvis if their rehab takes longer.
candyman93
2nd longest tenured Brown, just behind Joel. That’s sad.

Blech. That kind of turnover isn't sad. It's impressive, if you ask me.

Our alley edge defenders have been our biggest problems for a lot longer than that.
