Over. At the very minimum one bad playcall a quarter puts it already at 4. Plus you know at least one timeout is getting mismanaged. Probably at least one bad 4th down attempt.

Having an analytics guy is fine. But when that analytics guy says go for it on 4th and 8 that guy needs to be fired. And when the HC blindly agrees with an analytics guy to go for it on 4th and 8 there’s something wrong.

The HC and playcaller (both Doug) needs to exercise situational awareness. Ostensibly, we don’t pay the analytics guy to do that.

I'm a pretty strong proponent of analytics but here's where something like this gets lost on me. What's this guy basing a 4th and 8 on? Saying NFL teams convert 3rd or 4th and 8 x amount of the time speaks nothing of your specific offense. If you're factoring in solely our offense percentages so far this season, there's no way there's a significant enough sample size to make an informed decision.

And then using any semblance of situational awareness and active thinking, the eagles offense through 3 games has been pretty underwhelming all things considered and especially on 3rd downs iirc. Combine that with being in a tight game, close to halftime, where your defense is playing lights out and the other team gets the ball. Odds are that even if you convert, based on your offensive performance in the first half you're still settling for a FG, and didn't elliott miss one in the first half too? There's no excuse for making that decision, and it falls 100% on the HC, not the guy that is paid to crunch numbers.

As for this game, no game is a gimme with Dougie P. Also, as others have said the chargers are better than their record shows, they've hung around in all their games. Our offense isn't consistent enough to expect us to blow anybody out, and with all the injuries on defense it's hard to say we matchup well with anyone at this point. Rivers is also one of the fastest in the NFL at getting the ball out quickly and even Eli and his crappy accuracy demonstrated that that is an effective method against these corners.
