Rank every division's QB situations: NFC North

Hoping to get some detailed discussion comparing the QB rooms in each division in the coming months, maybe one per week. Next up, the NFC North.

Chicago Bears: Nick Foles, Mitch Trubisky, Tyler Bray
Detroit Lions: Matt Stafford, Chase Daniel, David Blough
Green Bay Packers: Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love, Tim Boyle, Jalen Morton
Minnesota Vikings: Kirk Cousins, Sean Mannion, Jake Browning, Nate Stanley

How do you rank these rooms heading into the 2020 season?

1. Green Bay: Declining Rodgers is still the best QB in the division. There is now a back up plan that isnt late round or UDFA level.

2. Detroit: I just like Stafford more than Cousins although it may be an unpopular opinion. They have a solid back up if needed.

3. Minnesota: Cousins had more talent then most QBs have and yet was mediocre for what he was given IMO. Backup QB is meh.

4. Chicago: What a waste of a good defense....

Packers clearly have the top spot, as much as I hate to say it.  They have a HOF QB being backed up by a first round pick.  Who knows what Love will turn out to be?  Could be another Favre->Rodgers type deal, could be another Brian Brohm.  But they have the best present situation and likely the best future,

Lions and Vikings are kind of a toss up for me for #2 and #3.  I don’t know really anything about their backup QBs, so it’s hard for me to rate them.  If i had to choose between Stafford or Cousins, I’m going Stafford, so I guess I’d rate the Lions #2.

Bears clearly in last place.  Again, as much as I hate to say it.  They really don’t have any future at the QB position beyond the next two years.  The writing is on the wall that Trubisky is gone after this year, short of some miraculous performance.  Foles might be okay in Nagys system, but even if he is he isn’t a long term solution there.  If Foles balls out this year, he’s able to opt out of his contract and cash it in big in FA (or at least try to).

1.  Minnesota's pretty much set with Kirk Cousins.  They blatantly overpaid him, that's for sure.  On top of his 2018 contract, he gets the 60 million extension for only 2 years.  The dude is making hand over fist and has no problem with choking in the playoffs.  But, at least Minnesota has that "franchise quarterback" they've always wanted.

2.  Chicago might actually be in the best position of them all because they just acquired Nick Foles and Trubisky now has to compete for his job so he's going to play harder.  But, the problems set in when you realize how injury prone Nick Foles can be and the long term answer for them is still nebulous.  You also have to take into account that Foles doesn't have a track record of being that good of a QB in the regular season.  But, good news is that if he were to get injured somewhere in his 3 year contract,  Trubisky can step in and he'll be an experienced backup.

3. Aaron Rodgers and his situation at Green Bay is boiling over right now.  They draft, what they believe, will be a solid backup QB for now, but it's definitely clear that Rodgers will be going somewhere else very soon.  It could just be one year from now.  And, when that happens, Green Bay will be in last place of these four teams.  No disrespect to Jordan Love, but he's not going to be able to fill those shoes, and they really needed to get Rodgers help, not replace him.

4. Detroit is exactly what Minnesota's going to look like if they keep paying their QB that kind of sum for such poor postseason play.  They have some experienced backups in Daniel and Blough, but I'd be calling for Matt Stafford to leave the league if I were a Detroit fan.  He's been there for how many years, went to three postseason games, and lost all of them.  He's pretty much worthless in my opinion, but the sad thing is that Detroit's fans are completely content with him.

Delusional and completely uninformed.

Cousins could indeed be a Stafford 2.0 in disguise, but he has much better regular season stats and has actually won in the playoffs.

Minnesota is putting all of their eggs in one basket with him (which is dangerous), but Detroit is already at the point of no return unless they replace Stafford.

And as for Green Bay, you have no idea how Love is going to turn out.  Who cares if he was a first round pick?  Doesn't mean anything.  Odds are that he's going to be mediocre, because he's used to having a really good offensive line at Utah State.

I don’t really know how you can say “you have no idea how Love is going to turn out” and then say “odds are he will be mediocre.”  He’s got two years for GB to develop him and add weapons/OL, who cares about his college OL?  I don’t see how that affects his pro career at all.

How does anyone on the outside know the QB situation in GB is boiling over?  Just because you believe Rodgers is gone after this coming season (but his contract situation could make that prohibitive so he might be a Packer for 2-3 years instead) how does that make GB's QB situation the 3rd best in the division presently?   Because Rodgers is going to **** and moan about it all year?  Even if he isn't thrilled he can't act like an jerk.  That will turn off future employers.

Not a chance.

The league places a much higher value on pure talent than moral character.  That's not how it should be, but it is.

Doesn't matter how he acts and who he disrespects.  He'll have more than a second chance around the league, because he's one of most naturally talented QBs of all time.

Talent speaks volumes in the NFL.  Because all the organizations care about is winning games.  They don't care what the public thinks about them having a narcissistic clown on their team.

How exactly is Stafford worthless?

I have them ranked as follows:

1a. Cousins  1b. Rodgers   1c. Stafford - They are all about equal as of now.

2  Foles/Trubisky

Cousins - No problem choking in the playoffs?  Did you see him in the playoffs this year?  He came up very clutch when we needed him to against the Saints.  We lost to the 49ers, but they were overall just a better team.  I sure don't blame Cousins for that loss.  He played better against them than Rodgers did.

Rodgers - He has regressed from his peak (which was in 2011).  His team's head coach and GM obviously agree with me.  He is still about equal to Cousins and a healthy Stafford.

Stafford - If you think Stafford is worthless, you are obviously not watching Detroit's games.  Detroit had the chance to replace him with Tua in the draft and they decided Stafford was worth keeping around.  Stafford has played well throughout his career for a team that has had bad coaches, management, and ownership.

Foles/Trubisky - Foles might be successful in Chicago, but I wouldn't think he would raise himself above the other QB's in the NFC North.  He could also prove to be a back-up quality QB too, which is what he has been for most of his career.  He is working with DeFillipo, with whom he had his greatest success in Philadelphia, so we will have to see if they can recapture that magic.  As far as Trubisky is concerned, he has had some games where he wasn't horrible, but I'm just not a believer in his ever becoming more than a one-read quarterback.

Stafford has had to endure a lot of struggles in his career and has performed pretty damn well, especially given the teams he’s been on. Last year was actually shaping up to be his best year before he was shut down.
