Jakuvious
Taco is just a standard reclamation project signing. We're good for one of those almost every year. Pick up a guy who was highly drafted by a bad team that just didn't gel, find out if it was the team or the player. Low cost with potentially high reward. Done it before with some success with Cam Erving, Reggie Ragland. Done it before to forgettable results with Darron Lee, David Amerson. Never really hurts though. He'll start out battling with Speaks for the #4 DE spot. Not much harm he can do there, and he's presumably quite cheap. If he is effective at all, it's a solid signing. It particularly makes sense as a good team. Always possible you have the culture, coaching, and leadership that a player needed but didn't get at their first stop. Always hard to judge why a player busts from the outside.

All the DE will likely see at least some time inside, particularly in coverage sets, but I look for Speaks to find a home there or find other employment. J Not sure where you think you're seeing that, but there won't be an official depth chart released for a couple of months, and none of the unofficial ones have moved Speaks's position. Team still lists him as a DE. I know this has been speculated for ages, but he is not listed as a DT anywhere but in peoples' predictions. As you say, it does not really matter. Spags likes to move his DE to DT on some plays, and vice versa. We had Chris Jones playing outside a few play last season. Frank Clark and Taco Charlton were teammates at Michigan. The Shark thinks Taco will work out very well. https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/2020/05/02/kansas-city-chiefs-michigan-wolverines-frank-clark-taco-charlton-reunited/ J Edited May 3, 2020 by onejayhawk
KC_Guy
Here's one out of left field: Chiefs sign another QB. Interestingly the guy from whom Ta'amu took over at Mississippi. https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2020/5/3/21245754/report-chiefs-sign-another-quarterback Edited May 3, 2020 by KC_Guy

Patterson got a bad rap because of some poor throws, but kid can really throw well on the move, is a fine athlete, fine athletic ability and ability to throw under pressure. He is better than Ta'amu as a prospect and a player in college as well. He has good upside and would not be surprised to see him beat out Henne or Ta'amu. Gives them more options at QB as well. The KC UDFA class is awesome, Lavert Hill should have been drafted and is a fine natural coverage corner. No idea how they got Darryl Williams and Yasir Durant. Durant is a mountain and Williams should have been drafted, kid could be a fine guard or center in the league. Also got Kalija Lipscomb in the mix as well, good receiver with very natural hands and catch radius. Add Patterson on it and their UDFA class is as good as any in the NFL. RedGold
Really like the Patterson signing. Him and Ta’Amu both have fun tools for Andy to coach up. Both excel at making plays outside the pocket and have some flash.
onejayhawk
I knew we would get a QB when they released Shrmur. Patterson seems like a reasonable choice. Worn out veterans will always be available in dire need, like last season. J
Kirill
If Cam Newton knew what was good for him he'd sign a 1/yr to be Mahomes backup. Just like the deal Nick Foles signed for us, 1 year 1.75M. He could relax for a year, get his body right, clear his mind, learn from Mahomes and Reid, and collect a ring.

He needs some live game tape. Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at NE. Edited May 4, 2020 by KC_Guy
