Jaguars decline 5th year option for RB Leonard Fournette

He's underperformed behind one of the worst offensive lines in football with one of the most inconsistent QB clubs since 2010. I think during his rookie year he faced more eight man front's than any other RB in the NFL and last year you could make a case that he was being overworked because there was virtually NOBODY spelling him outside of Minshew's jailbreaks downfield at times.

In the right system? At the right time? He could be a problem to scheme against. If teams are willing to fork over 2nd and 3rd picks at the position anyway? For example, Swift, Taylor and Akers all going within that range this year? Why wouldn't a team in the hunt that's going to end up with a low 3rd RD pick anyway not chance it for Fournette?

Tampa Bay is the team to watch this year. Let's say Brady gets off to a slow start in Arians system and they clearly need to punch up the backfield? Fournette's an interesting prospect. Buffalo was in the mix as well. Josh Allen seems to lack the ability to get the Bills over the hump in the play-off's. Fournette in Buffalo in a division that no longer houses Tom Brady could be an interesting trading partner.

Teams will get desparate. They always do. Especially teams in win now mode.

Because they have those rookies for 3-5 years at WAY cheaper contracts, less miles and wear n tear than a 1 year rental in LF that will want more money per year than a 3rd round pick makes in their whole rookie contracts

I think you always have to keep in mind, the idiotic price our team payed for a chump like Carlos Hyde, only to not even bother using him ever really.  Teams do weird stuff when they get desperate or frustrated.

For his size he barely uses it. How often does he break one loose off a tackle? How often does he miss a massive hole due to vision issues? He got his stats by being the only legitimate option outside of Chark to get the ball too and the lack of TE/security blanket in the passing game.

Doesn't even get into the fact our OL definitely isn't close to the worst in football, especially run blocking wise. There's issues, but OL as a whole is trash league wide. We definitely aren't bottom tier.

As far as QB play having to do with performance/stacked boxes, a lot of RBs do just fine with that if they're actually good. MJD won the rushing title with Gabbert at QB in 2011...
