patriotsheatyan
I don’t think he will do much career wise besides be a decent backup somewhere, but if he ends up winning the job and statistically had a season similar to 2018, what happens? brooks1957
Wow - they swapped 1st round picks - then traded 2 3rd round and a 4th round pick - all to move up one spot to select Trubisky. Now they are not picking up his 5th year option. And now - they have to burn another high draft choice on a QB. Those are the kind of decisions that are career enders for coaches and GMs.
SkippyX
Tampa and Tennessee both made the wrong move in picking up the 5th year option on their QBs and spent about 50 million on 9 wins and 13 losses combined. IF Trubisky is great next year (good luck) then they can franchise him for an extra 4 million or so. IF he's still Trubisky then they save 25 million. candyman93
Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy will be fired after this season.

Picking up the option would have been negligent. The tag only costs them 4-5 million more.

How many GMs have survived after whiffing on drafting a QB?

LETSGOBROWNIES
For reference, it would cost them 25 million. https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears/2020/4/30/21243186/bears-2020-mitch-trubisky-quarterback-fifth-year-option-ryan-pace-nick-foles-loyalty-test-million

But if they are it will have little to do with Trubisky. It's pretty clear ownership has given Pace a mulligan on that pick. Why he didn't pick a developmental QB, even late, this year is incredibly bizarre, though.
