Trevor Lawrence - Pro Bowl talent; NFL comp: Archie Manning with Peyton Manning height 3. Zach Wilson - Pro Bowl talent; NFL comp: rich man's Baker Mayfield; bigger Jim McMahon 4. Justin Fields - Solid Starter; NFL comp: shorter poor man's Cam Newton 5. Kellen Mond - Solid Starter; NFL comp: shorter Colin Kapernick 6. Mac Jones - Backup/Low Level Starter; NFL comp: Mason Rudolph Overall I believe this is an excellent QB class. In my opinion it is the best QB draft since 2004. I think there are 5 quality starting caliber QBs in this class. I would draft Trey Lance 1st overall. I think he is the best player in this draft regardless of position. That's how highly I think of him. I would feel comfortable with drafting Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson in the top 3. They are great prospects in their own right as well. Justin Fields and Kellen Mond are mid-1st round caliber picks. Solid QBs who will win a lot of games in the NFL. And finally, under no circumstances would I take Mac Jones in the first round. He is the most likely bust in this QB class. I hate to be the voice of reason, but it isn't going to happen. All of the sudden in 2021 when we don't even have a normal collegiate football season and evaluation period we break the mold and have 5 solid or better starters drafted in one year all drafted in the 1st round? Great QB draft sometimes happen. I think this is one of those rare classes. And its not like I'm saying this is 1983 all over again with 3 Hall of Famers. I think only Trey Lance has an outside shot at a Hall of Fame career. Lawrence and Wilson will be high level QBs for at least some years in their career. While Fields and Mond will have some bright spots. Plus I think Mac Jones will bust so its not like I'm hyping up everyone of the top prospects. Kyle Shannahan will maximize his abilities like Andy Reid has done for Mahomes. I can see San Francisco winning a Super Bowl in the next 2-3 years. Maybe, but I'm not gonna crown a guy as the next big thing when he played one season at a D2 school, looked bad in his one game last season and is alarmingly inaccurate as a passer. Didn't Josh Allen have similar concerns? Look at him now. I'll always bet on a QB with elite talent and great intangibles.

They forget there have been 1000 others just like Lance/Allen that have failed. The NFL is the grim reaper when it comes to upside! ADDED If you’ve never heard of Carmazzi, you’re not alone. He never played a down in the regular season for the 49ers or any other NFL team, despite Walsh’s belief that Carmazzi had the skills to follow in the footsteps of Montana and Young. Carmazzi played his college ball at Hofstra and he was the second QB chosen in the NFL draft after the New York Jets took Chad Pennington in the first round. Still, the idea that Carmazzi had any chance in the NFL was hard to fathom at the time. Even though the QB field was thin in this draft, drafting an extremely raw QB from a mediocre Division I-AA school didn’t make sense as the 49ers used their first four picks in the top two rounds on defensive players. https://sports.cbslocal.com/2016/11/17/how-bill-walsh-whiffed-on-tom-brady-in-the-2000-nfl-draft/ Edited May 2, 2021 by m haynes

Very possible Mahomes could of busted if he went to 70% of other teams. When it comes to QB’s like Mahomes and Lance, you need an expert offensive guru to develop them like Reid or Shanahan.

The only shot Lance has is if he sits for a minimum of one full year. Probably 2. He's more raw and has worse mechanics, progression and experience than Jordan Love.
